I got bored, so i wanted to smack something together. No hard work went into these 2 movies. I was gonna delete them, but i might as well just share them with you guys http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

hot damn amraam, that f15 was great, loverly editing

one or two questions, how did you do that sharp camera jiggle just as the f15 passed over head (prolly by shaking your hand but....)

also there was a shot of the cockpit on hte ground (22 seconds - 24 seconds) when it looks as if you have gotten the caera to move in one direction and look in another??

nice work anyways

What i ment was, it didn't take me long to make these movies. I never put any serious work into them. All i did was shoot a few clips, and edit them, nothing special http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

To Raven: To answer your question: "when it looks as if you have gotten the caera to move in one direction and look in another??" :

Well, that shot is F2 view. I panned the camera in front and to the right of the plane, hit SHIFT-ESC, turned the camera towards the cockpit, zoomed in, hit SHIFT-ESC again, then panned and filmed. Try it, there's nothing special about it, it just looks cool, which is why i did it that way http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hope that helps.

Hmm, what song is used in the F15 one anyway? I recognize it, i'm guessing it's Hans Zimmer as usual but I can't seem to remember which one. Sounds like Days of Thunder, but, prove me wrong http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Akula, yes, lock on does have a built-in recording feature, but i filmed with FRAPS.

Check out http://www.fraps.com

The song in that F-15 vid is from Con Air. And, yes, correct, it's Hans Zimmer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well Glowing Amraam, F15 is one of the best vids I've seen.

There are plenty vids with more 'stuff' in them, but this is nearly perfect in it's own way. Length is like an Ad at a minute and a half, and it is so simple but the shots look so good. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Even chopped a little shorter, it would make a great TV Ad for Lock On! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

The music is spot on as well.

Thanks Amraam! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

I use fraps also. However I've never tried it with lomac. I use it for F1 challenge. But here's what I don't get: F1 has a replay "vcr" that allows you typical replay functionality and the ability to get a shot from multiple angles, multiple times (if that makes sense). Do you have to make your camera selections on the fly, in real time or can you choose different shots of the same event in the replay? Sorry if this question is on the confusing side...I'm just trying to figure out the process that you go through to get your raw footage.

I wish I did. I race with a few friends online and distribution of the video is a problem that we run into all the time. I usually put a few of them on a DVD and we watch it just before the real F1 races on sunday...so most of them are too large to post. However, I do have a 3 minute video of our race at the A-1 ring. It's about about 12mb and I'd be willing to post it if someone had the space to host.

I'm working on a stunt video right now, which will be done soon. The music style in this stunt video won't be Hans Zimmer style. Nope, more like...limp bizkit style, actually http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

It's a theme from "The fast and the furious".

Cool, can't wait to see that! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, from this F-15 video, there are some camera angles/techniques I didn't know were possible. I'm kind of a newbie at dealing with camera angles & techniques in Lock On, so I'd like to ask you one or two questions. When the F-15C fires the first missile, you're focused on the F-15C, but then you pan the camera to follow the missile, even though the camera is fixed to the F-15C's position. How did you achieve that?
Another one I'd like to know how to do is on the ending, when you fixed the camera to the F-15C, but when the F-15C broke away, the camera was left in that position...
How's that one done? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd really like to know about those! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Thanks in advance...

Ok, here goes http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

"When the F-15C fires the first missile, you're focused on the F-15C, but then you pan the camera to follow the missile, even though the camera is fixed to the F-15C's position. How did you achieve that?"

Well, i used F2 view. I zoomed out to the position i wanted, then zoomed in a little bit on the plane. Then i hit "SHIFT-ESC". You will now be able to look around from that position while the camera is still attached to the plane http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
Hit "SHIFT-ESC" again to return to normal F2 view.

"..you fixed the camera to the F-15C, but when the F-15C broke away, the camera was left in that position...
How's that one done?"

Quite simple really http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
I went into the mission editor, set up a plane, F-15 in this case, but that doesn't matter. Then i made a waypoint for it faaaaaaaaaaar away from the plane, so it just flew straight and level. Yes, this plane is A.I.

I then put my plane right behind it, selected "record mission", or something from the drop down menu.

I flew next to the F-15 flying straight and started turning away from it a couple of times.

I then opened that mission which i had just recorded, and selected "Edit track" form the drop down menu.

I selected the A.I plane, hit F2, panned the camera on the same side as i flew during the recording. I used the "shift-esc" technique and turned my camera around so i could only see myself and not the A.I plane. Then i started filming http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I hope that helps, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Oh one more thing if you don't mind! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
It shouldn't be too hard to answer...

Basically, the introduction scenes to your F-15 video involved a hangar's doors opening and an F-15C coming out of it...
How did you get that to happen?
I've never seen an aircraft come out of such a hangar (though I've seen the hangars, already opened...), let alone an aircraft actually come out of it (and doors opening and all, I thought they were fixed to open...)!
I was very surprised to see that! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Yea! awesome videos. Awesome angles, and great music to go along with it, I give it an A+, dont see why you were about to delete it lol, I bet you are glad you let everyone see it first now. Once again superb camera work, I love when the f-15 is just coming off the runway towards the camera and as it passes its like the camera shook due to the plane....just great

btw I wish I could run at those graphics settings, everything looked so nice and looked like it was running smooth too, about what FPS do you think you were running at?

i used this in my newest video aswell (look for raven119 new movie 'formation' in hte movie maker forum.. to get to movie maker forum, click on lock on lnk at top of the page, then scroll to hte bottom and click on hte movie maker forum)

to get the plane comin out of the hangar, open mission editor, put a plane on an airport, but leave it as an AI plane, then click it to be a takeoff, nad click 'take off from ramp' or something similar. play the mission. the mission will start and the AI plance will be in hte hangar (note, the hangar doors open really quickly, so in my film anyway, i slowed down time and recorded)

this only works with AI planes unfortunatly, but you cna take control of tehm with alt-j (i think)

hope that answers yer question

Well, the fps might look good, due to the fact that when i filmed, i slowed time down, and then speeded the clips up when editing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I play on quite low graphic setting when i play, and turn the graphics up a bit for the filming.
I'm using the latest drivers from Nvidia for my GeForce 3 Ti500 card.
