When I do long travel routes it gets very annoying to keep moving the crew around. It just seems tedious and annoying after a while.
Why should something so repetitive be implemented into a game? Its just like drag and drop tired man in resting quarters and drag and drop fresh man back in engine bay.

Is there a way for the computer to keep switching the crew around so that they have optimal rest etc.

Do any of you find moving the crew around annoying?

When your crew is promoted to high ranks it wont matter if you leave them to their posts forever. It wont affect the boat's operation even if they get all red. Of course what kind of captain would that make you...? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

yes I find it annoying. Personaly the only time I would think a captain would directly move crew from one post to another would be during battle situations. During cruise mode, there would be a regular watch schedual set up at port that would no doubt be optimal for that crew. I also think it takes an unrealistic number of personell to run the engines. There isn't much to do on the electrics unless there is damage to the compartments. Desils yes there is a bit more to do to keep them running like oil and watchuing gagues to make sure they don't overheat but to require 4-5 highly experienced officers for that? 4 Average seamen at best. Experienced machanics should only been needed for repairs. This is especially so when you consider the motors that pump out new orleans, which are large, WW2 era (or older in some cases I think) large electric motors, larger than anything on a Uboat, maintained by no more than 1 or 2 people per motor. Again, as long as there's no actual damage it shouldn't require that many crew.

Quite agree. This is tedious and never something the captain would need to bother with.

There are a couple of ways of rectifying this, neither of which are very realistic either, but at least it takes care of it.

As pointed out, promoting your crew is one method that gives them super-stamina.

The other method is by using SH3 Commander with the game (whether it be plain SH3, RUB, GWX or WAC).

In "SH3 Options" of SH3 Cdr, you have "Gameplay Settings". This gives you the option of using different 'fatigue models'. One of these is "No Fatigue'. This effectively keeps the crew in the positions you put them in, for the whole patrol if you like. Not very realistic, but unless somebody comes up with a mod that automatically shuffles crew around at set times, that's all there is.

Can I install commander after gwx or does it need to be installed first (or doesn't it matter)

edit: you can manually promote crew?

Starforce3; If memory servs you install Commander after the mod. GWX has a few special updates/files for commander make sure you obtain these.

Commanders crew maintenance rocks! The only time I use the in-game system now is if I want to move a po up to sub-LT for example. Just make sure your in-port first.

I always used the stock model, and it seems fine. Firstly, after a few patrols your crew will be experienced and resilient enough to stand watch for a whiile before needing rest. Secondly, Iron Crosses in Gold remove fatigue. Thirdly, you can just double click the compartment name, and fresh crew will automatically be assigned to the post...
