I've been trying to play the 6th mission in campaign mode (I can't remember the name of it, but it starts with Rykk-something I think). I got as far as promoting the knight to sheriff and annexing a nearby sector before sending him out to explore a bit. Then, my screen turned black and I just heard sound while the monitor acted like it was looking for the video card or else wasn't properly attached (I know from having checked that cable earlier when it happened that it's definitely firmly attached to the port). The task menu also would not come up for me nor could I get back into the desktop regardless of what I tried to be able to shut the game down as well as Windows. I've had issues with the nVidia driver with another game, sometimes called a "nVidia bsod" problem and from reading the forum, it appears that I may be having them with this game as well. However, it hasn't been this bad since I changed drivers from a beta for 162 to the final for it with the other game I was having problems with.

As to this mission, anytime I've tried loading it after this incident, I begin hearing the sound begin to stutter and then the game immediately crashes on me.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I do have the patch that was released installed and just want to be able to play my game again.

My video card is a nVidia Geforce 6800GT (256MB) and I have an AMD Athlon XP 2200+, as well as 1GB RAM. I'm currently using Windows XP Pro (SP2) to play the game and my sound chipset is an AC`97 (built into a nForce2 chipset). I do disable unnecessary background tasks while playing also. I also have all my drivers up to date as well.

Is there some way I can play my game again without worrying about the crashing problem or is this a bug of some sort or just another reason for me to get angry over the driver situation (which is among the reasons as to why I've stopped playing the other game with this problem for now)? I've mainly noticed the stuttering sound/crash to desktop problem when trying to load my game and it always seems to happen at the same point each time.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Any insight into this will be greatly appreciated as, again, I just want to be able to play my game again.http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif
