Hey, i have played every splinter cell 'game' to date... but. i have one problem:
Splinter Cell : Xbox
Splinter Cell PD: Gamecube
Splinter Cell CT: Nintendo DS
Splinter Cell DA: Wii
so you can imagine that my story line is a little... not right. anyways, i have searched the net for summaries and can't find any, and the search in the forums isn't coming up with anything so yes i looked. If you find a good summary on the internet that i didn't, please post a link. i appreciate it.
if you feel like writing me a novel on the story i will reward you with the good fuzzy feeling that you helped a sad empty man out. Thnx much http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Pretty much the worst experience for each game after the first one lol, just read the wikipedia articles and look under Plot.
Here, I'll get you started.

I think Lambert was shot by Sam, but I don't know if he lived or not. Also Sam is investigating the death of his daughter and Third Echelon is somehow involved in a greater conspiracy.
Basically the death of Sam's daughter wasn't an accident.

my perception of the Lambery ordeal is that Sam either took files which only got lambert "beat up" or he left them which got him killed in a dumpster. i thought he was always alive because the guy who told u what happenned ended up being a enemy in the end, so i just thought he was lying.

You should do yourself a favor, and go back, and play CT (XBOX Version)... still such an awesome game. You can download it direct to your console from xbox live for $5, or $10 bucks....

That's the Wii/ previous gen story, which isn't canon as far as we know.
All that is important is Lambert is dead, and Sam killed him. With Lambert gone there is no one with enough authority to vouch for Sam and his innocence. That's why everyone's after him.

ah ok, that's a real help (no sarcasm) so that means that every "story" element from all the other games besides DA isn't a factor because they werent based on Sam's background. I still looked it on google and found nothing that explains to well, so can someone explain who Coste, Shetland or watever character may be brought up in Conviction. just a quick background? thnx for the help people.

Yes. He's Sam's handler, I believe.

Victor Coste was in the same SEAL team as Sam during the Gulf War. Now he's around to supply Sam with 3E goodies on his quest for vengeance or whatever.
Shetland was a former Marine Recon soldier who was considered for the first Splinter Cell position. He and Sam worked together several times over the years, but in Chaos Theory he decided he didn't like the system and attempted to cleanse the US through war. Sam killed him. He definitely won't be mentioned in Conviction, so don't worry.
