I wonder if Ubi would kill me for putting this in the announcements forum... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Eh, might as well. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

This is fantastic news and I can't wait for it to be made available in the UK. My only hope is that its open to everyone not just those that have credit/debit cards.
What impact does this have on until uru? Will it still run, will more updates be released? Enquiring minds want to know http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hi Alahmnat,

The annoncement plus extra details from Alahmnat...click here (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/936102043/m/8541073144)

P.S. May 9, 2006, 4.30 AM, Montréal time, the page cannot be accessed to. Too many hits ?????

05-09-2006, 06:03 AM
Yup too many hits is correct! We crashed 'em. The http://www.urulive.com is down, http://www.cyanworlds.com is down, http://www.drcguild.com is down, and the old Myst site is down too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Since we can't get to the sites to see what's going on, and since some of us don't know, (me), http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif, could someone explain what has happened...what the big news is? Pleeeeeeeeze?

05-09-2006, 07:28 AM

Pleeeeeeeeze? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Urikrak... in a nutshell, Rand Miller has announced that Uru Live will finally make a proper debut sometime this fall, hosted via GameTap, not Ubisoft. My understanding is that Cyan will be working very hard all summer to solidify the new version, which will evidently use a different physics engine and will necessitate downloading a new Uru client.

Word has it that Uru Live will be available internationally, in spite of GameTap's normally USA-only status.

Before the urulive.blog site crashed last night, I was able to register for the beta, and sign up for news updates.

Needless to say, this is huge news! It sounds like Uru Live is finally getting the attention it deserved all along. Fantastic!!

Details here (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5941034/m/8941053144). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And Alhamnat did a Announcement here. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/936102043/m/8541073144) I'm sure Ubisoft loves to have it announced. But hey what the heck right? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Trickster (lovely guy!) has set up a mirror here. (http://live.uruchoice.com/) Try not to break it, k? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

This is fantastic news! I didn't expect to hear or see anything so concrete so soon.

(My jaw is still on the floor...)

(And since there's no jaw-on-the-floor smiley, the above one will have to suffice.)

I'm sorry. I was in a hurry to leave for work and I missed your link, Nanouk. I have now checked it out and this is indeed great news! Woooooooooot! /dance

Methinks the server is down. I can't bring it up in the browser. Ack!

05-09-2006, 12:26 PM
The server was up for a while (wonder how long it stayed on).
I do hope my sign-up for the beta came through, because after I pushed submit I got an errormessage page, nice in the style of the site, but not exactely clear if the message was for me. And then trying to return to the mainpage gave the familiar message about the server down. *crosses fingers that submission cam through a splitsecond before someone els crashed the server* http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

05-09-2006, 01:11 PM
I asked GreyDragon what's up, and he said it's the computer. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif So, they are "working" on it, but not having much luck at the moment. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Let's hope all the sign-ups are working.

Great news! There's a pizza party planned at UO board for the hard-working people at Cyan! So, if you want to help contribute to our favourite game-developer and get them a commerative plaque at the same time, click here (http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=89&t=24545&s=504e1bcace93302463b43a86f5ed473e).

Update, for a chat log here at DRC forums (http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=15807#15807) from Moke. Apparently, you can sign up for "just" Uru Live if you're International. Or if you are in the U.S. you can sign up for GameTap and then have access to URU Live that way. That's how they are doing it.

Long snip here....

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> (05/09 17:09:44) Moke: GameTap is great, but you won't have to sign up to play Uru Live...

(05/09 17:09:51) Oracle: Shorah Anna
(05/09 17:10:00) Anna Catherine: Shorah, guys!

(05/09 17:10:05) Vortmax: Hey Anna Very Happy
(05/09 17:10:10) DanielPharos: Hi Anna. I checked yesterday, no stone Smile
(05/09 17:10:14) Legacy: Hmmm, will bribery increase our chances of getting into Beta? Wink
(05/09 17:10:16) Anna Catherine: Hey Vortmax, Hi Daniel
(05/09 17:10:26) Legacy: /slips Moke an imaginary cookie
(05/09 17:10:2Cool Anna Catherine: Thanks for checking the stone. Smile
(05/09 17:10:34) Vortmax: Okay, the way it was phrased on the site, it looked like we would sign up for GameTap and get access to Live as well. Is that wrong?
(05/09 17:10:46) Moke: I think everyone here will have no problems getting into Beta...
(05/09 17:10:52) Thend cheers
(05/09 17:10:52) Legacy cheers
(05/09 17:10:54) Vortmax: Excellent Very Happy
(05/09 17:10:55) Anna Catherine: Yay!
(05/09 17:10:5Cool Anna Catherine: *beams*
(05/09 17:10:5Cool vid: hi everybah-dy. Again.
(05/09 17:11:06) JeffeJ5005: Is there an estimate on how much Uru live will cost without a gametap subscription?
(05/09 17:11:0Cool Thend waves
(05/09 17:11:0Cool Legacy: can I have my cookie back then? Razz
(05/09 17:11:09) Anna Catherine: Heya Vid
(05/09 17:11:39) vid: so what's going on with the beta and stuff? I clearly walked in late to something important Smile
(05/09 17:11:41) JeffeJ5005: My face hurts
(05/09 17:11:50) Moke: No, that's probably the best option, because you get a great game service too. But Uru Live will have it's own space and a relationship to GameTap
(05/09 17:11:59) Ural: Good! i just signed up few mins ago!!!
(05/09 17:12:12) Anna Catherine: Gametap looks cool, but I'm in Canada.
(05/09 17:12:19) Anna Catherine: They have Zork!
(05/09 17:12:2Cool Moke: I've got GameTap and I love it. I play it all the time.
(05/09 17:12:41) Vortmax: Okay. Forgive me if I sound stupid, but let me make sure I have this clear. If you're a GameTap subscriber, Live will be included. However, you can get a seperate membership at the same price?
(05/09 17:12:53) Moke: Not to worry, Anna. We'll make sure you can get in.
(05/09 17:13:06) Anna Catherine: Cool. Thanks, Moke! Smile
(05/09 17:13:16) Moke: Probably not, Oracle, but Uru Live will.
(05/09 17:13:16) DanielPharos: wb famous Nancy Smile
(05/09 17:13:2Cool Anna Catherine: Heya Nancy
(05/09 17:13:5Cool Ural: Share accounts??
(05/09 17:14:03) Moke: We have no intention of leaving anyone out of Uru Live who wants to be there.
(05/09 17:14:06) Thend: Since Uru Live is bit more nebulous at the moment compared to Until Uru's ituation, how can we, as a community assist Cyan in the future, grassroots-wise?
(05/09 17:14:2Cool Anna Catherine: *wants to be there* Wink
(05/09 17:14:41) JeffeJ5005: heh, I think a huge amount of us want to be there
(05/09 17:14:44) Moke: Spread the word, Thend. We won't have much of a marketing budget...
(05/09 17:15:00) Moke: ...and we'll need to figure out how to grow. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Happy Happy Happy Day! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Lets all be sure to sign up for the beta. I just did and the Game Tap site didn't crash.

05-10-2006, 01:09 AM
where, oh where is the beta sign up!! i looked and looked..am i missing something obvious?

*fingers crossed, hoping i dind't miss the chance*

EDIT: found the new place :P

05-10-2006, 09:04 AM
Hi pixilpink. I got to it via the link in Toria Uru's first post - the "Urulive blog" link. To the right of the announcement are several links to sign up for the beta and newsletter. They were very faint on my screen so you may have to look closely. Hope to see you there!

Edit: Glad you found it.

05-10-2006, 11:36 AM
Something that was mentioned above got my attention, but wasn't explained very clearly. So you can subscribe to GameTap and access Uru Live that way, or you can suscribe to Uru Live ONLY? If that's the case, is the subscription less?

Thanks for any clarification,

According to the FAQ and another in-cavern discussion with Moke, US subscribers will get Uru Live and the Gametap service together. Non-US subscribers will just get Uru Live. In both cases, it seems that the price with still be $9.95 per month.

05-10-2006, 12:34 PM
Here's the FAQ, as it is today.

On some other forums I've been to, there is some discussion going on about the price. Non US folks don't want to pay the same price as US folks if they don't get the other Gametap goodies.

We don't know anything more about this - just that's how it is right now. To me this doesn't seem cast "in stone", but that's just speculation on my part.

05-10-2006, 03:56 PM
OK, I just signed up for the Beta Testing (been gone all day) and didn't get an error message or anything so I assume it went through. Is there any way to check?

05-10-2006, 04:29 PM
I have been hanging on for a long time that "the end has not been written" and now I find out that the statement is TRUE! I am estatic! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

GreyDragon has addressed that question in this thread (http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=35&t=24568&s=8f7a194b17116019d99e5a8db2d120da) at UO. In it, he states this:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> You won't get a beta email until this summer. If you got the message on the Uru Live site saying " you've succesfully signed up for the beta". You have signed up.

As non-US, I will not complain about just getting URU Live for $9.95 / month.

06-15-2008, 02:00 AM
hi somebody tellme how can play uru online

06-15-2008, 06:36 AM
Hi Ahoshy,
First off, welcome to the forum. Urulive was shut down April 10th by Gametap, it was a business decision by Gametap, they didn't see the revenue coming in that they expected. Right now Cyan and Gametap are in negotiations to get the rights back to go forward. If they fail to come togeather, Gametap has two more years to hold on to the rights. Hopefully Cyan will get the rights back before that. You can find info for any thing pertaining to Urulive on the mystonline.com forums.Sorry about you missing out, hope the future is still in most of us for the return of Urulive.

Comming soon to A PC near you

It would be good if someone could post a more detailed update here. To my knowledge, the negotiations between Cyan and GameTap were successful, and there will once again be Uru Live. I don't know where to send folks for up to the minute info on when, where, and how, though, so I leave that to someone more knowledgeable. Thanks, Carkadann, for the brief update. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
