Thats right!!

Far Cry has been cancelled.

All of the hype and antisipation has been for nothing. The game will never be released. Internal dissension between Ubi and Crytek has made matters inconsolable and Crytek have decided to discontinue any further development of the game.

This is a fact!!!

Far Cry finally lived up to it's title and that is....A Far Cry from ever being finnished.

Ive been dropping on these boards for the past few months and I feel that I need to make myself noticed, I think that the way that UBI and Crytek have been treating this is incredible poor, they set up a MB early so that they can generate a community, succeed, lead them into believing that a demo will be out before the end of SEPTEMBER then completely dissapearing at the end of september and not letting us in on anything at all. Ubisoft need to rethink their marketing strategies. If they want to generate a community then they need to take some responsibility for where that community takes its Ideals because at present this community looks to be doing more harm to this games sales than good, which is a pity because this game looks damn fine.

well i dont know if you still know BABY BOY or BIG BABY he said 2 or 3 months ago that FC whase stoped than we got a update from Crytek and we came to conclusion that it whase BULLSH*T so what is this for thing ITS BULLSH*T.

Let us just wait a month. Ubi just s*cks in this. Crytek will without no doubt deliver us a game. Take2, Codemaster or Activision will take over if neccesary.

The game is just to good to be cancelled.

The game will get released, but that doesnt mean UBI and Crytek arent having issues.

BTW, how is this the best game ever? Just because the screenshots look good?

Considering the fact that Far cry won best PC games at ECTS, I really doutb the game would be cancelled. The only reason I would consider this, is if Crytek was bankrupted and even then, I'm sure Ubi would by back the licences.

Post your source, URL and then, maybe I'll believe you (maybe) but... For now, this is bullsh*t!

I notice we see more Crytek employees.. Hes saying its been cancled because another person who "said" they work for Crytek were not getting payed by UBI like they were suppossed to.

This person did not post it in this forum, but about the same time it was posted UBI/Crytek quit visiting these forums.

Apparently UBI was trying to make it hard for Crytek to keep going financially in hopes that Crytek would sell out to them. I dont see that to be to far fetched coming from UBI.

Still, we dont know, but what we do know is, they arent posting anything here anymore, and we arent seeing any new updates/screens.

I work at Ubisoft and I'd like to say a few things...

1st: FarCry has NOT been cancelled as far as I know, and since I am involved in the project I would hope that I would know.
2nd: Before I started working here I had a lot of respect for Ubisoft as a producer of high quality games. I never had a problem or complaint with any Ubisoft game I bought.
3rd: Having worked here for awhile now, I must say that Ubisoft does not in my opinion deserve the criticism that it is recieving here. The company and the people here are awesome.

There are several things I would love to tell you guys about the Farcry project, unfortunately I can't talk about things that haven't been cleared by marketing or legal departments. I am itching to tell you guys a few things, but I'm not going to jeopardize my dream job here for it, sorry http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Suffice it to say that what I would tell you would reassure you all and that you have nothing to worry about. Just be patient.

Since you work at UBI, could you tell us WHY they arent posting info here, why theres no new screenshots, no new videos, no post to verify whats going on, no updates, no info on the demo.

Could you tell us why we shouldnt criticize a company that wants to sell us something, but wont give out any new info on the product their selling and leave the consumer in the dark?

UBI has a reputation for leaving their customers in the Dark, so yeah, they do deserve what they get. You on the other hand, we dont expect you to criticize the company that signs your pay check.

If they downsize and you were to go, would they still be a great company?

All the people in these forums are asking for is SOMETHING. Is that to much to ask for? I think not. I would just like a good reason why they quit coming to the forums, why theres no new screenshots, no new videos, and no web site that was suppossed to be up "soon".

Theres a lot of things that quit happening, and a site that has not happened yet, so why shouldnt we be wondering wth is going on?

OK, seems like I have to STOP WORKING ON FAR CRY to answer untrue posts.

To be very clear, we at Crytek know nothing at all about being cancelled. We are all busily working on the game evan as we speak, and have clear plans for enhancing and polishing the game into the new year. We sincerely apologize that we did not deliver the game for Christmas - nobody is sadder about that than us, but we tried our best and could not release the best possible product in that time frame.

Please bear with us. The game is getting better every day, and you will see a lot more of us in the gaming press in the very new future. We will get this project completed to the highest possible quality as soon as we can. We sincerely hope that the wait is worth it.

As far as I know, there is nobody here hired full-time to check every post on the forums. Ubisoft doesn't want to frustrate you all, you are customers. You can be sure it is NOT in their interests to tick off their clients, so I don't know why you are convinced that they are doing it on purpose just to annoy you.

As for me, if I didn't believe what I said about Ubisoft, I just wouldn't have posted it. I personally think it is a great company, and that was true before I started working here too. It is why I worked my butt off for a year to get in here specifically, and I don't regret it a bit.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything to do with marketing, website, or legal departments, so I can't tell you anything about the site or the demo. All I can say is that we are doing our best to make a kick-*** game (and it will be, I promise you that), and its a little discouraging to get disparaging comments before we've even released anything.

It might take awhile for the demo, I don't know how long. But if it takes a bit longer, well, its because Crytek is trying to make it as good as possible. Don't rush them! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I get the impression that you see a big faceless mega-corporation who doesn't care what you think, but as part of the team, I see a bunch of hard-working young gamers doing their best to make a game that other gamers like yourselves will love and that we can be proud of. Try and remember that.

I don't doubt the guys from the Ubisoft team are great guys but you have to see our point of view.

The people from this forum have been waiting for new info for months. For example, I pre-ordered the game (expecting it to be out later this month), and I finally see today someone confirm a delay already rumored for weeks on several sites (if most online stores changed their dates, they probably received some info regarding this delay). Would it be too much to give us some updates regarding the release date, and a few new screenshots/videos, and maybe a demo to keep us "busy"?

And Jack Mamais,
I thank you for taking the time to confirm the delay. You mention you took the time from making the game, I just have one question (without trying to be rude): if you (by you I mean the team) have time to give interviews to a lot of websites and magazines, why can't you "waste" a couple of minutes every 2-3 days to answer some of your fans questions? For example, you could have confirmed the delay sooner...

Anyway, good luck with the game.

You should read other posts...I have been answering most questions on here for months. I will always give the fans here the most up to date info possible. You must understand that there are several people I must confirm posts with before doing so and I am also a producer on this title so I can't possibly be on here every day to post. You can be assured I will monitor this board daily and post any relevant information possible. You can also be assured that I always read every single post made here.

As for websites and magazines...Those interviews are usually questionaires that we are able to take home over night and answer in our "free time". These posts, likewise, are also generally made in my free time.

So, that being said, I will now enthusiastically throw myself back into the Island Paradise to see how Jack Carver is getting along!

Ok, finally got some results for you guys with this thread.

As you all can see from the official statement from the game developer it is now confirmed.....Far Cry slips to 04! release, lets just hope that it's a Q1 04 schedule.

unfortunately NOTHING mentioned about the demo!!!!!

If the game is being "POLISHED", well why can't they release a demo......How can that hurt????? In my opinion releasing a demo would only be to Crytek's benefit!!!!

Ok first off, I have to say I dont like UBI. you say
"You can be sure it is NOT in their interests to tick off their clients" But that's all they are doing with this kind of PR. Look at Lock On,Raven Shield and the rest of the games UBI has PR for. Omg it's time after time with the same crap, don't tell us anything. I think, it is in there best interests, TO LET US KNOW FROM TIME TO TIME about what is going on. Last I heard it was to be coming out this month. But I have to hear from someone that doesn't work for UBI, to find out it's not going to be tell next year. Finall some information! This is so good!

I'm now just hoping a demo will be released soon and especially that Far Cry will be Game of the Year 2004, defeating all those other games not worth mentioning.

We (I anyways) appreciate all the work done for this game and will wait eagerly for it.

If they need more time, they need more time. That's life.

But still, if somebody has to say the game has been cancelled to get some response from the developers, changes will have to be made concerning the communication between the gamers and developers, buyers and producers.

We have been reading all the post, and I havnt seen anything new from you lately, and definately havnt seen anything about the game being delayed until 2004.

Thats all we asked for, was some information, now was it that hard to tell us it's been delayed? I think not. I hope you arent working on it 24/7 and havnt had time to post in the forum, "games been delayed.

Pretty sad that this thread had to be titled the way it was in order to get some official reaction from the developers.

I had heard back in early September from a Ubi rep who was here in Australia showcaseing Far Cry that the game was scheduled for release in Feb 04. Unfortunately it has taken until now to have that fact verified by the Crytek developer.

Also the build of Far Cry that was on display here in early Sep was the full game, so it's obvious now that the game is just being fine tuned.....lets hope that is the case.

BUT.....give us a DEMO to play!!!!! that aint asking too much is it??????????

ok so it took us month posting to finnaly get the info about game being dalyed, what's new in this world every single game is freaking delayed. As for the guy who works for UBI, maybe they should hire somebody who will monitor the board and reply to their customers, we where left here guessing almost about everything regarding this game.
