Just picked up the demo the other day, and I applaud the developers for a job well done. But as with anything there can always be improvements. Here is a list of suggestions.
1. Please add the ability to split into two teams. For example alpha and bravo. It seems weird to break into 3:1 when entering rooms from different points of entry.
2. Please change night/thermal vision mapping to the D pad - pressing the buttons takes to much time to access, especially when trying to switch weapons and issue commands with your right hand. The door open feature seems like it could be mapped to the analog stick combined with a context sensitive button press. This would enable the D-Pad up and down to be mapped to the night/thermal in a similar fashion to Splinter Cell.
3. With the two buttons left from suggestion number two - please map them to third/fourth weapons respectively. This would make accessing frag/smoke faster. Also when pressing and holding x to switch weapons, it breaks the illustion of 'the game' as it obscures my vision from the action. For example when a terrorist pops out shooting from behind a corner, I have to press x to select my frag grenade - in the current fashion I lose visual on the shooter.
4. The command system is usable in it's current state - but to keep the player immersed it would be better to put the command menu over to the side - perhaps with a series of icons representing the 4 basic commands for the contextual action. It would have a bit more of a learning curve, but the end result would be a much cleaner, efficient GUI.
5. Finally, and this is a small point. It would make sense to change or add the command 'Go'. I found it confusing to move from saying "go, go, go" to 'move' I found myself saying 'go' alot. It would seem intuitive that both commands should work.
Well, I am not sure if this post will actually make any difference on the final release, but I thought it would be worth the time to type this out if they did.
Cheers,
Mike
