gameplay looks really good but there are still no landings off of the big booter jumps. instead you've replaced them with rails XD

well thank god! but seriously first person should turn with the boarder and flip with the boarder and have tinted goggles in the view, other than that, looking pretty darn good! can we expect to see a demo? because I can't decide on whether to get Swsb or Stoked, and I am working for a Leatt brace and 661 Flight/ Hurricane mx boots, so I really can't afford to buy both of them, thanks a lot for the videos!

Yeah lookin pretty nice. Definitely more improvement on this showing but I'll say this. A lot of us were saying a few months ago this needs more improvement, so Stoked has a lot more improving to do as well... but as of this moment SWS is the winner http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif However the score values seem a bit low, but I guess this won't be about mega points

Apparently I'm the only one thinking the spins look rediculous?
Still no kickers at the front of the boxes. No landings on the jumps, the player gets speed when going up on a friggin' tree :S.
No to mention that when a player jumps of a jump he flies in the air in a manner that makes SSX look realistic...
Sorry but amped 3 is more fun than this...

This looks cool. I'm disappointed about the first person look. I though that it's like when you do a backflip the camera does backflip too but ok.

It looks really cool to me, but i'm not searching for an uber realistic game neither for a game with insane long spins. So this game is exactly what i'm looking for.

Oh I forgot to mention: rail tricks have incorrect names, back lips are called front boards...
Even the tony hawk games for the ps2 had the naming of rail tricks already under control. (The fs and bs part). Why doesn't this game?

when i heard there would be a new snowboarding game by shaun white i thought: yeah he's gonna make a skate on snow!
now look at that! it's horrible! after playing skate you don't want to play tony hawks games any more beacause realism is soooooo much better than doing 900 to boarslides. so why is ubisoft making the such a ****ty game? we want realism! instead we get crappy avalanches, crappy parks and moon gravity!
im really disapointed!

i joined this forum to post my ideas on the game beacause i was really stoked about the game! but the more gameplay footage i see the less i like it! so why shouldn't i be allowed to say that on a forum!
i believe that no one from ubisoft has ever visited this posts. so actually nothing we discuss here is gonna make any impact on the game! we're complaining since the first gameplay video about the landings and jumps in front of rails! did they change anything? nooo because they don't care! i'm ****ed that this is going to be another mainstream highscore game and im letting ubisoft know. if they ever gonna read this(wich is never gonna happen anyway)

Looking pretty awesome. I noticed that they put kickers to the rails but they are huge kickers and you're landing on the rail from like 30ft. The first person would of look a lot cooler if the camera rotated because the way it is now you can't spot your landing. Other than that it's looking great. And anyone complaining about the avalanches should just shut up, have you ever seen a game that has avalanches in it NO.

WOW! This just goes to show you can't please everyone http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I mean personally I'm gravitating towards Stoked as it is more sim orientated, even though it has MORE WORK to be good, but Shaun's game has very realistic features and is FAR FROM TH style of play. There is no massive combos or milions of points, but it looks much more fluid and smooth than it used to in the past. What is even more amazing is NO GAME should be expected to be perfect and each have their flaws! There is a difference to critique a game then out right bash it when is it STILL being worked on. So your judgment is premature IMO. I agree if you can critique properly then please leave

Frozen man, you have a point but tell me HOW LONG have I been after 2k about the Amped series? Like years now and I finally got a mod to take notice they will lets us know when the time arises and THEN drops one little line on a thread that has over 2,000 views "info on the horizon" and that is all... My take is THEY read comments and remarks but don't really let you know what they are going to do. I'll bet my bottom dollar people from Stoked read the Amped 3 forum and saw what people really wanted out a snowboarding game with all those complaints and wishes (constant "make a game like skate" remarks) Question is will they be able to deliver. Jury is still out on that one and remains to be seen. BOTH games are still being worked on, even though SWS looks just about done. I wish they would take more of a concern in the consumer that buys their work but they are NOT going to reply and tell what they are doing maybe out of propriety reasons. Bottom line they do READ but one should not expect much regular correspondence back

i would be happy with just one reply. we havent got a single reply to a single one of our questions and these forums are dying. who would want to go to a forum where the point is to ask questions and not a single one is answered? the fact that there is a thread made by one of the community developers thats purpose is to have questions asked and then answered that has 9 PAGES OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS is completely ridiculous.
Rebel4Liberty
09-22-2008, 01:50 AM
Yeah I know. I read all the questions and would love to know what the answers are myself. I dunno but I'll agree it's inconsiderate to make a thread about ask your questions about what they are doing to the game and just blow it off. Not a good way to say "buy our game even though we have no time for your questions" and ignore the potential buyers that want to know what they did or even suggest minor details/improvements to help. Just not good consumer relations to practice. Maybe everyone should just flood the community devs PM box/email and say WTF answer US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We tend to have a thread to collect questions from the community and we tend to leave it open for a good while in order to collect some interesting questions. Some developers and publishers like to make up questions, but Ubisoft tends to prefer letting the community have it's questions voices. Usually it is the job of the Community Developer to sort things out between the community and dev team but even I have done some interviews and community questions for the EndWar fans. Some Community Developers like to post 1 or 2 answers every so often and some prefer to have the whole thing done and post it up.
Once we have a good cross-section of questions, we have to arrange with the development team to take some time out of their day to answer community questions. As you may or may not know, this close to launch is super hectic for development teams. It's what the industry refers to as Crunch time and even the Community Developer is busy, not just with this forum, but all of the other forums he works with.
As I have already posted several times, the answers are coming, along with more media and information on Shaun White Snowboarding. While you may think you're being ignored, that is not true since I try and be around and help out but even I have to wait for the information to appear, no matter how much I really want you to have it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Back lips and front boards are not the same thing. If you approach a street rail (im assuming you know what that is) on the backside, turn BS 90 degrees bringing the tail end of the board over and onto the rail then thats a back lip. A front board is when you approach the rail on your frontside and and only the nose goes over the rail. Back lips are way more difficult when it comes to handrails. And the tony hawk games screwed up BS and FS all the time. He could never get it right. But i have to agree with you... the spins look awfull. All i asked for was a super stylie back 180 and i didn't get it. O well... thats why they have sequels.

So hello everyone,
I decided to post in this forum, because here are a lot more people discussing about the game then in the german forum.
I have to mention some things:
People who say that the game looks unrealistic because a guy is doing a fs.450 over 30ft to bordslide, then I have to say that nobody is forcing you to do the same things like him.
Who say that you have to land everytime in a flat terrain?
Just search arround to find jumps with realistic landings. Thats the best thing about this open mountain feature.
I know that the game is still not perfect.
I´m also missing a few things like normal park jumps with normal landings (but in one of the new movies was an very great looking roller-jump, don´t forget), and also not everything is perfekt, but the whole game has very good things and improvements in it.
It hasn´t to be perfect yet.
And about Stoked:
It doesn´t look that better than SWSB. I have seen a video were the guy is spinning a 360, than stopped the rotation in the air and spin backwards a little bit...
Do you think this is more realistic???
Just visit this site. http://www.stokedrider.com/index.php
It´s a Snowboardgame from Housemarque, which looks very identical to me...
Just play the demo and decide if it is more realistic...

P.s.: Sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand what I mean.

no i think that he wanted to show us that the gameplay looks like stocked rider. he wasn't saying that the game is stoked. the graphic aren't the same snowfreak737 but i understand what you're trying to show.
by the way he just told the true, a snowboard game will never (NEVER NEVER) be like doing snowboard for real and if it was i would not probably play them cauz i prefer to ride for real.
so i understand that having a game who give you the thrill of what snowboard is would be nice but at the same time if you want to have the feeling move your *** and go snowboard.
this game look really realistic and the graphic are way to go so just sit and enjoy.

But I'm really glad we have somebody else here who isn't here to bash the game and nay-say everything that Ubisoft creates! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Ya thanks man Im just a guy who whants to see a difference in snowboarding games like how skate changed how we see skateboarding games!Well I think there will be a demo for this game because there were high doubts about a mercenaries 2 demo guess what a demo did came out but after the game was released.I dont think shaun white would pull off a late demo release well see proabably before it comes out a week or two or proabably never!Well have to wait for ubisoft gives the anouncement

by the way he just told the true, a snowboard game will never (NEVER NEVER) be like doing snowboard for real and if it was i would not probably play them cauz i prefer to ride for real.
so i understand that having a game who give you the thrill of what snowboard is would be nice but at the same time if you want to have the feeling move your *** and go snowboard.

i agree with you i'm living in québec canada, and we barely have like fourth months of ''praticable'' snow. So yes i cannot stand up and snowboard as often as i want. But what i'm trying to say is that snowboard, it's snowboard, and a video game it's a video game. So to have big hope for a game is good but at the same time it cannot be perfect, and as realistic as snowboard itself.

OK I know what this is about and I know what your saying. Trust me, I RELATE and here's why
I USED to be a DIE hard surfer. So DIE hard that I went into 8-10" hurricane conditions with get this, A FULL ARM CAST!
I could explain how I did it, but only to say I made it out, caught 1 and said THIS IS SUICIDE! Point I'm making in relation to snowboarding as there been a few surfing game put out and NONE out there that COULD ever replace doing the real thing. Rip Curl had a slogan that was perfect "only a surfer knows the feeling"
But the real feeling and a virtual feel are 2 different things. So a game can't ever take the place of doing whatever sport in real life..BUT if a game has enough realism that it feels "like" your doing it but your know this just an electronic image. So do understand there are some differences. Why even make games look real if they are not supposed to feel real? But the game or NO GAME CAN NOT replace reality. This is fact
so i understand that having a game who give you the thrill of what snowboard is would be nice but at the same time if you want to have the feeling move your *** and go snowboard.
Unfortunately this too simplistic to say. Everyone has different circumstances in their lives, and its not as simple as saying "get to the mountain and do it" How about I say "get to the beach and get in the water and do it"
YOU (while I respect your feeling) had to learn it eventually. Some quicker and some longer in numbers of YEARS but I KNOW ethier or you will definitely NOT start shredding instantaneously. Those in close proximity to mtns/snow resorts have the luxury and convenience of lots and lots of practice to stand/balance/ learn grabs and not everyone can "just go" with certain circumstances in their life. If I was closer to mtns I'd probably start trying to learn, build confidence and most of all its about dedication to time, but is that dedication practical for certain situations. The reality is NO and for those us that CAN'T you get a different kind of feeling by playing like a real snowboarder might do. I hope you understand that I'm pointing out that feelings has other definitions. I hope you understand I'm not saying its the "same" (are ya with me?) but I'm saying that it is different
in nature
this game look really realistic and the graphic are way to go so just sit and enjoy.
The above states the same argument. As I said WE all have different circumstances and obligations and saying to "sit and enjoy" for purists perspective is just too easy to say. I'm going to play the game. I'm going to learn it over time and I will get skills to be a good player. But at no point do I feel like I am REAL snowboarder. I hope you understand where I'm coming from

Guys, for the second time I'm going to say that the release is on 16 NOVEMBER NOT 16 OKTOBER, and I'm 100% sure of this.
But i admit there's still some improvement that has to be done.

But back onto the topic im pretty sure too that this isnt gonna be released till mid november just cause the game seems it still needs a good "shinning" to atleast the physics/spin ration/ the bailing.... who the heck bails from 100 ft up and gets up from it right away lol... i thought they were atleast gonna implement the rag doll effect =[

I have that problem too. Here in Belgium where I live the landscape 99% flat, and I have to travel about 350 km to reach a place where you can be like 75% sure that there is snow. If I want to go to the closest skiresort in the alps it's about 700 km from here.

really now? I live in vancouver, our seasons start in like late november and they end like around late may. Once they close I can still drive to like whistler and get another two three months in. figured they had more snow in like toronto and montreal and stuff as there always bombed with snow...

yeah like usually within the season we get like 20-30/40 cm of fresh snow each morning. But thats in like really close mountains like close to vancouver like 15 minutes away, theres Grouse mountain, Cypress and seymour. Then drive two hours you go to Whistler and blackcomb now with the peak to peak gondola...yeaaaaah! Or you can drive 5 hours and hit sun peaks a really awesome resort which isn't really busy. Head east three hours you get silver star resort. Man I feel lucky http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Dude but like in the city for sure that toronto would be alot better for urban jibbing as they get alot more snow in the city. There was a comparison and like we had 40 snowtrucks, and they had like 500...

does anybody remember when amped 1 came out, those average gamers complained that the game was not realistic, cuz you cannot keep the speed in the halfpipe? even tho it was perfectly realistic for the time, it was the first game where you actually had to pay attention to keep the speed in a halfpipe as in real life. so the point is: when a snowboarding game was realistic, the average chimp who's buying the game would go like aawww it's not realistic, the physics are not accurate!!
what did microsoft do? they came out with amped 2, which already was wayyy more arcade and tony hawkish (and to a real snowboarder mainly a dissappointment). but the reviews were way better.
same thing here. they're target market is not (only) ppl who actually know something about snowboarding..

Well I have to AGREE WITH EVERYTHING you just said. I was sad to see Amped 2 stray away from the simulator engine that made it so unique from most other titles. That game was more about precision and accuracy, way more realistic jibbing too as it depended on how you would shift on the rail of the board, too much weight on one side and you would fall off. I remember when I played 1 how I wish you could have jibbed the chair lifts for much longer THAN 2 came out and the length of time was just too ridiculous. Plus they really cut back on half pipes in 2 as well and yeah TH combo system, with millions and billions of point by exploiting the butter manual. It was fun but nearly 1/2 the games real identity was gone in 2. Oh well, now my hope is that Stoked takes over where 1 left off.....
