Ok, I finally finished the game. I was disappointed with the singleplayer campaign mainly because of two things: a) there was no ending, and b) where the hell is the whole story with Weber being kidnapped?? He was adbucted in one mission, but we rescued him anyway.

Wasn't the game advertised based around the whole idea of "Team Rainbow have never lost a hostage, but today they will lose one of their own!" ?? And wasn't it announced at one point that you get to play two perspectives? Through Ding Chavez leading the team to find Weber, and through Weber trying to escape his captors?

The story is so dry and uninspired. It doesn't even draw me in, unlike all of the previous games. I mean I know the game is more about the gameplay than it is about a compelling storyline, but atleast in the previous games I knew who I was assaulting and why, and it mattered! Here it's like "oh, I guess I'm supposed to kill you, so let's just go with the script." All topped off with an unsatisfying end.

You don't even get to snipe throughout the whole game! Apparently Dieter Weber is the only sniper now! What happened to Homer Johnston, and the other Colombian sniper dude? You can't even choose who goes on your team anyway.

I don't expect Ubisoft to be able to fix this, but I do hope and demand that they fix all the bugs that are scattered all over the game (particularily the multiplayer bugs).

Honestly I'd vouche for a Raven Shield 2 project. A Rainbow Six made specifically and ONLY for PC.

Sniper missions with Weber was left out due to negative feedback from console users.

But in the end, a R6 title made for PC from start to gold master would be the best.

So their idea was "Cut content! The PC gamers will love less content!"?

Well regardless that still conflicts with the announcements made about the PC version. It was supposed to be developed specifically for PC, without reference to the console version.

I'm very disappointed with the quality of the textures as well. The world textures are all low resolution, the light textures are also mostly lo-res, and the custom characters are horrendous.

I sincerely hope Ubisoft can make up for this. I didn't pay full price for a low blow.

Not quite done yet, but you are right, it definetly feels really disjointed in terms of a story line. Actually, the whole presentation of the single player campaign is pretty sub par in terms of drawing you in. The interface is fine, but you don't quite feel like you are doing anything but a bunch of seperate missions. Occasionally they tie into each other and are nice missions, but there's no feeling that you are part of the game. I was surprised there was no "intro" to bring you into the game, but I won't be surprised when there is no "outro" to wrap things up.

That whole Weber thing was ridiculous. Not so much the mission, but the setup. It's like, all of a sudden his helo is shot down, but it implied that he was flying around solo like a GIJOE action hero in the same area as your last mission. You know how all those GiJoes could operate every single vehicle. Just left too much up to interpretation.

Like Deosl said, they switched it all around for the PC. I read they took out all the cutscenes and a lot of the story elements.

Yeah I get you, but again the PC version was supposed to add features not the other way around. Now it feels like I have a half-finished product.

Wow you are right. That ending is lam...was there an ending? I think I shot the last guy and then it just dumped me to the after action report. I was pretty much expecting that but d4ng.

I gotta say though, I did enjoy the missions for the most part. Some of the levels are really nice. The game was actually not that easy for me. If I didn't use quick-save through the second half of the game or even the replay function during the gaps on the missions, I'd still be somewhere in the middle. I did cut the ammo to 10 clips though. I'd like to cut the tango count to half or a third of what it is right now.

There's a story in single player? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I know you're kidding, but the irony is, Lockdown, at least I think, was conceived as a story driven single player game on rails, yet most of that has been stripped out on the PC. I remember watching the development process from the announcement to the release, and kept thinking, "my God! Do the console players really like this sh1t?" From the little I've seen on the console boards, they seem just as frustrated with LD as we are on the PC side. Which makes me wonder who the genius was that came up with Rainbow6:Lite.

In some ways what we got on the PC is actually better, but it's ultimately flawed by its inherent limitation of original design.
