The iPod Nano.

Was it really necessary to make the iPod any smaller? I mean, where can you put the nano that you can't put the regular iPod? Afterall, the regular iPod fits in your pocket, attaches to your belt, fits in the palm of your hand, what else could you ask for? If the nano isn't milking, I don't know what is.

Sort of random, but I'm just so freakin bored out of my mind right now.

that's not true! it can fit in your mouth better than the normal iPod! mmm, bitesize. but it's not really competing with the iPod. It's actually replacing the iPod mini, which I think is a shame. I really like my mini. I like the idea of an equally powerful player that takes up exactly 0 space, though. I travel a lot so every inch counts for me.

I agree with Jinx, the iPod Nano is in a totally different class when compared to the regular (hard drive based) iPod. It's like a combination of the mini and the shuffle. My only disappointment is with the battery life, which I expected to be atleast 18 hrs, the same as the hdd based iPods.

Yolk, I know what you mean, but unfortunately I don't think Apple is going to introduce support for those codecs anytime soon.

hm. I'd certainly want something with more space than my 512 mb iPod Shuffle, but right now I need my money to entertain myself in other ways, as the autumn is dark and cold and I'm bored to death. I wonder what smartass got the idea "hey, I know! let's go to Scandinavia! there the autumns are cold and the winters are depressing." and then that smartass's friends goes all "yeah, let's go!". Well this is why i think that there's an iPon Nano.

Reason 1:They want more money (highly doubted).
Reason 2:The majority of the population or survey results want the iPod to be smaller.
Reason 3:They just wanted a new series of designs for iPods.

you guys got it wrong... the ipod nano is a smaller version of the ipod photo. it's the same idea... color screen, photo storage, etc. i think it's a pretty genius idea. so it's not just like the ipod mini and it's no where near the likes of that lame ipod shuffle.

The ipod nano is similar to the mini in terms of storage size; it is similar to the shuffle in the sense that it's super slim and both are flash based; all nextgen ipods have a color screen to see pics on, so that was expected. The nano would've been pretty lame, had it come out with a mono display. Even no-name DAPs use OLEDs these days.

I like the iPod Nano. The idea is amazing, I mean, the thing is thinner than a pencil, and that's such a selling point. Compared to the iPod Shuffle... ugh. I don't like the iPod Shuffle, THAT'S milking it. They just took away EVERYTHING that made the iPod unique (Click-wheel, screen, storage) and just put in an everyday MP3 player with white headphones.
Besides, do you think HONESTLY, that they're going to stop at just the iPod Nano? Nope, it'll get smaller. I think something like smart clothing, you know, how you see on the Discovery Channel that in the next 20 years, we'll have clothes that will monitor our health activities. I can see it now, Ralph Lauren shirts with a small tab that says, 'iPod compatible. yeah, ipod's not really out for the money as much as they are about the sales and overall income of the company... that's evident by the cheap prices of the itunes music store... the whole point of that was to sell more ipods. and when you buy an ipod... maybe you'll buy a mac... and maybe be a lifetime customer. but if apple was out for makin more money all the time, they would put out some low quality **** that they could sell a dime a dozen like... well, i won't get into that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
