How deadly are the enemies' bullets?

I mean, can I charge the enemy and shoot him at close range and take a few hits, or should I seek cover and snipe at him from afar because getting close is deadly?

I normally seek cover and snipe from a distance, but I figured if I am pinned, would it make sense to charge, zig-zag, and shoot the enemies almost point-blank like some FPS? Are the enemies' aim that great when I'm moving?

I'm wondering if I can change tactics here.

enemy bullets are pretty lethal...can't play this game as Rambo..ish like Joint Operations and some of the other games out there.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

i've found that you can run faster than fixed gunners can aim, so if you encounter a fixed gun, you can run from cover to cover aslong as you dont zig zag(zig zagging will get you crossed up in the line of fire and you'll die) and you have to reach the next cover spot within a certain amount of time, depending on where the enemy was aiming and how aware of your presence he was. havent tried it with normal enemy troops.

imo, if you can get the far shot, take it. going nearer only serves to further endanger yourself.

Yes Chips you are certainly correct in your assessment of the fixed guns...but in general wouldn't you agree you can't just run through this game...whether zig zagging or not as he suggested in his original post...

yep i agree, running around zig zagged or not is possibly one of the fastest if not the fastest way to get killed. not only is it stupid to do so, the game spawns enemies as you enter "Zones" so you'll mass spawn enemies way too fast and get popped in the head.

only time i can see running being a good idea is moving from cover to cover.

That tip to run past fixed enemy guns is a good one, Chips! I've tried everything to get around the fixed positions and the only thing I've done that works moderately well is to take the sniper rifle and try to sneak around a corner far away and snipe the buggers. However, this doesn't work every time as these city layouts are quite close and you won't always have such a long range of fire to snipe every fixed position. I'll try to run from cover until I can get into 'nade range on the next one I see.

Thanks again!

you actually can get the guns from a relatively long way aways with the grenades. take some on an empty part of the map to get a good handle on the different range/powers for the throws and how long/far it takes for the grenades to explode. just because you cant get the nade to land near the gun doesnt mean you cant get it to airburst above the gun http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif using the map, you can get an estimate range and hit the targets with the grenades without actually seeing it. another advantage to getting the grenades to airburst is that if you throw it at a high enough angle, when it comes down on the enemies they dont run.

after practicing with the grenades and grenade launcher i always carry extra grens, they're so fun and so effective http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

You can take about 5 hits I think.

The enemies bullets are equally deadly as yours. But your "health" is 7, theirs are mostly around 4. Then you have the multipliers like head-damage, torso, legs etc.
The 5.56 weapons have a damage-rate of 2, the SCAR-H 3 and the M99 a 10.

Thanks for the replies.

I am on "Mayday! Mayday!" (PC Mission 5? The one with the drone) and having a hard time assaulting the hill with the two SPHs, not to mention I am running out of ammo since I didn't know about the backpack tab http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif, not to mention I took the CBR and its 5mms are forcing me to burst-fire, thus causing me to get really short on ammo. Any pointers on how to get pass the hill? The enemy AI have me pinned as I go up the slope, and I can't find any cover around there. And I am on "Easy" setting too.

I recall in GR1 I and my AI buddies were dropped into a field with enemies all around (I think many would remember this). My AI buddies fell so I did what this Marine told me, charge the enemy. So I did, running-and-gunning for the treeline and (heh-heh) ran myself out of danger and managed to get some of those enemies as well. From the treeline, I sniped at the enemy by the house. I guess the GR1 enemy never suspected I would charge them. But, hey, it worked. I guess GRAW is different...

GR1 on recruit is twice as deadly as GRAW on hard. You really don't have to worry about bullets much in GRAW except from heavy weapons.
