i was playing a few buddies last night, and one of them brought up a good and somewhat alarming point.

he explained how he'd joined into lobby where two gamers were chatting away in some form of arabic language.

he just thought it was kind of weird at first, especially since the gamers knew absolutely no english. he eventually left.

but he brough up a great point when talking w/ me and the 2 guys on the other team, which was whether the voice lines for xbox live are controlled or monitored by the U.S govt. (as most phone lines are)

if not, my friend posed the idea that the xbox live game lobby would be a perfect place for terrorist members to meet and talk w/ each other..and possibly plan attacks.especially if every non-arabic speaking person simply leaves the room after realizing u cant communicate w/ them.

just a thought, but an eerie thought. whats everybody think???

Are you suggesting terrorists are using x-box live to communicate with eachother? ::GASP:: so thats who OSAMA_DAWG_101 was!

If you think I'm in that dark corner down the hallway, I'm in the dark corner you just walked by.

hey at least its known , now it can be...and likely is monitored. its better to talk bout it and possibly prevent it now rather than find out the hard way 1 month after the nxt attack, on a CNN special, or in a govt. investigation.

hell, i bet some govt. offcl. is lookin over this thread right now....my work is done!

I could actually picture a bunch of terrorists talkin on an xbox, making plans to kill some more infidels, then play a nice game of Mech Assualt!

No problem. I personally wouldn't care if anyone wanted to listen in on my game. I assume since it's over Microsofts network it is public info anyway. I say let them!

This is an option and the secure comunication facility in the game would help i suppose? Which is a very good option for terrorists because you can't put a phone tap on a game. And it is VERY worrying because 3 terrorists were caught in "Langley Lane" which is 3 streets away from me. That is not a lie. It is a possibility that they'd use it but I don't know.

HEY GUYS<< LOL THIS IS FUNNY AS HELL. KNOW WHY
BECAUSE THE FCC IS forcing all online services with voice communication like
ps2
msn messenger
xbox etc..
To has a back door in 15 months so the fbi can tap specific people.. so your worries are over.

You really need to have your head checked if you immediately assume two Arabic-speakers are terrorists.

and no, as our govt is concerned...it called being a cautious American. lol.

if anything, bringing this issue to the attention of other gamers is a rational idea, as its a plausible means for terrorist or whatever to communicate and coordinate attacks.

and again, i didnt assume anything about these arabic speakering gamers, whom i never encountered...but i do believe the person who did witness their conversation. he's my best friend so i trust him, and respect his speculative theory.

but whatever...opinion noted

No, he dosen't need his head checked, he just is a little ignorant, and probably slightly bigoted, you have to admit it, everyone is, by instinct, because people who look similar to you instinctively look more friendly in the back of your head, no matter how many friends you have of a different race.

Back on topic, I think that the whole listening into Xbox live and such won't be much of a help because the moniter systems the feds use search for certain words such as "bomb" and "terrorism," and if key words are said enough, those conversations are investigated more clearly. Becaus eof the nature of online gaming, this system will become obsolete because 90% of games involve killing people and difusing or planting bombs, so alarms will be trigered non-stop. A major part of that terror color code thing is actually based on rises in such key words, with XBL being monitered, will be code red in no time!

im guessing the generic words "bomb" "kill" and "terrorism" are only a few of the terms the feds are looking for over the airways/net.

I can just picture it now... terrorists playing Counterstrike.

"Yes, we detonate the towers at mid... Damn it! somebody get over there and defuse that bomb! There are other things to do than" *bangbangbang* "Gah! Another round killed! **** terrorists!"
