ya i agee man Garand i think might be better, the carbine kinda lookes like a pellet gun with a clip on the bottom doesn't look like its quite as good as the Garand but we'll have to find out!

I dont care about how the gun looks. I just will pick over how it controls. Garand might have more stopping power. But the Carbine is easier to control. I could prolly get more bullets in on the enemy with the Carbine then Garand.

Yeah, althought the Garand has punch, it also throws you off of your target, while the Carbine has a lil punch on your shoulder, not throwing your aim off

I like the Thompson but since that is not a choice i will choose the Garand for the stopping power.

I would choose either depending on the mission. If I would need to defend an area or assault a target I would probably use the M1 Garand. It is an awesome weapon and was used for years after the war. The M1 Carbine would be useful for closer encounters. More than likely I'll be using the M1 Garand over all. I still like the M1 Carbine though. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

I'll use the M1 first in hard, then probably the carbine in authentic. I never liked the thompson, i feel so worthless fireing att enemys far away with a tommygun, it feels like im not hitting them, but with the M1.....OHHHH BABY http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You can reuse the carbine clip too. Just pick up the empty cartridge, put more bullets into it and reuse it. In game you wont reuse the clips of the M1 Garand nor the M1 Carbine.

Ill use garand more, just for its accuracy & power for long range shots but for close combat carbine or thompson, the guns have their advantages and their disadvantages.

The shot of the m1 would usually wash the ping out anyways.

i think someone said they would choose based on the situation. i agree. if i were in a foxhole defending the line...in say the battle of the buldge....id choose a garand because of its range...and if i was assulting on say iwo jima and normandy beach id also choose a garand...to fire through shcrubs and other forms of cover.
however if i was parachuting in id choose a carbine as well as fighting house to house in a town. this is because i want lots of rounds...lightweight and mobility with my weapon.
i dunno...my 2 cents...anyone agree/disagree?

indochine1978
02-28-2005, 12:44 PM
i would say that the M1 for most of it, but the carbine for a few specific things. however i would have to go with the thompson for most of the house to house.... bet effective range is where it is at..

haha where have you been, Of course there will be m1's.I for one will be using the m1 most the time.its very reliable and very powerful. But the thompson will be usefull for up close action.

The situation comment is probably the most accurate, as the weapons were used/designed for different roles.

This is best illistrated by the 2 teams in BiA.

The garand, with its longer range and better stoping power, is designed for the fire team, surpression, long range picking off of targets.

The carbine, with its faster rate of fire, larger clip and shorter range is designed for a ssualt.

As to which i prefer, well I'd say the M1 Carbine. mainly for its ability to fire more rounds quicker, useful for surpression (even if not designed for it) and its mobility.
Its my weapon of choice in Day Of Defeat for example. (Which imo, is currently the best WWII game out there, even if it is a HL1 mod )

Situations...

If there was a squad of german running across a field, and I was looking at them from the side. I would use a carbine because it's a great gun for getting the runners if you know what i mean.

**** you guys are useless, if the game will be really as authentic as it says then the carbine should be really strong. the carbine has similar bullet size as the garan except less powder, its a great weopon for killing, and i choose carbine for its flexibility and stopping power. only in cod its weak but this one better be good.

the garand is a good all around gun, having enough power to take down targets from far away, and a high rate of fire to hit closer targets too. the carbine was designed to be small and lightweight for troops that didn't need to shoot for a living, i.e. truck drivers, cooks, engeneers, and for fighting men who had large combat loads already like mortar teams and machine gunners. the carbine was essentially to replace the pistol. it was certainly strong enough to drop a man, but it might take more than one shot if he isn't hit in a vital area. at close ranges this didn't matter, but at longer ranges hitting a vital area is less likely, thus the power of the garand is useful in that situation. but in close combat situations the Carbine proved to be a very effective front line weapon. but still i choose the Garand, i prefer to use a more challenging weapon.

I prefer the Garand to the Carbine. It is both accurate and powerful. The B.A.R. and Thompson are also two very fine weapons.

Dude, the carbine and M1's bullets are the same diameter (.30 Cal)but the M1's is longer and the cartrige is bigger around (.30-06 Caliber)Check it out.

I've only seen a Garand being shot before but I have shot a carbine myself before now it might look like your kids ordinary little BB gun but that sucker can knock you down quite easy (Not the Recoil I mean when you get shot). Well the garand does have a long range but a longer reload time and only 8 rounds in a bandalier and a carbine has a 14 round clip. I think I'd stick with the M1 because it's big reliable and just plain beautiful *drool*

i would pick carbine because i like the way it looks and it holds more rounds

hard choice...the garand is cool because of its stopping power but i would probably pick the carbine because it holds more ammo.

I own both (a few of each actually) if those who actually vote agaisnt one of them would actually shoot both of them in real life, youd realize they go hand in hand. They arnt the same things. The M1 is a battle rifle, the Carbine was a stop gap weapon for those of whom an M1 would inhibit duties. The carbine is deadly up to 100 yards, trust me. The Garand is deadly to 500 in the hands of a skilled rifle man. The Carbine in WWII held 15 rounds, the 10 and 30 round mags were post war. The m1 garand held 8, the 5 round clip (its a clip not a magazine, it goes in the gun, a magazine doesnt) was made for hunting, again post war. They are 2 different guns, and both have draw backs. For the carbine: Plus-15 rounds, light, low recoil; Minus-small round, limited range. M1 garand, plus-stopping power, longrange, not bad recoil, and yes it can be loaded mid clip unlike the games tell you; Minus-limited capacity, springs wear out quick, grenadue launcher(when used) cracks the stock.
