A New Kind of Shooter
It's relatively common, even expected, for a movie or book to emotionally engage us, but arguably a foreign feature to gaming. This may not be the most obvious starting point for a look at Haze, Free Radical's showpiece all-format FPS: but Haze may just be a new starting point for the FPS and action games in general.

This is actually the Edge article quoted from here a month ago, but anyone who doesn't get Edge won't have seen it.

good to hear them say its comparison with far - cry is unfair. not that i dont like far - cry but i just like "a new kind of shooter" as they call it.

That confirms a suspicion of mine.
Edit: And this rules out a suspicion of both mine and a few other forum members'-

after reading that article, i now see Haze as more a satire of how the world works than simply a game thats gonna put foot 2 @$$ (even though it will lol) This got me thinking about if in the future there are games that are considered on par with literary master-pieces such as Animal Farm, and that games start to move in a more mature direction, at least sum. Thats what this article made me think of. (flame at will rofl)
