number of places if you want a used one...just google it..

you can get a brand new one from:

even a d-day edition one for around $1500

Probably your best bet for a reasonably priced M1.

Gun Shows, Online Auctions, even Pawn Shops are another possibility, but expect to pay a premium through those sources.

I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring here...
I believe Willys-MB hit the nail on the head.
However, you dont actually have to do competition in order to qualify for purchasing from the CMP. You can join the Garand Collecters Association. It costs 25 bucks.
The CMP would be your best bet if you dont want to spend alot, especially if you dont mind cleaning it up. Cleaning cosmoline is part of the fun of collecting military surplus firearms.
