Farcry splashs comes up but game wont load..

I am noticing a trend here. Bought a brand new rig, still pretty excited about it. Had some problems with the first gigabyte MA-55SLI-S4 - lost the bios. Installed the second one and reformatted the drives.

Im running:

Windows XP
AMD X2 4800+
2x7600GT SLI
2GB DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2
2x250GB RAID-0 HDDs


The trend I am noticing is that ROME does the exact same thing with its splash screen.

HOWEVER both programs will show up on Taskmanager and STAY there. Farcry loads Farcry.exe AND ~e5d141.tmp. This second file keeps on increasing it's memory usage and doesnt look like it stops. I let it get to around 700,000K before i shut it down. Same with Rome's "*.tmp" file.

Ok, interesting to note:

Fiddled around some. Both Rome and Farcry start up if I run them in compatibility mode for Windows 98.

I can get into the Farycry game but I don't have a mouse and my sound is all finicky.

I cant customize armies and set up games in Rome but I cant get past the loading screen to start any games.

I have exactly the same problem with farcry. I cannot find out what the problem is that causes the ~e5d141.tmp to use all of my cpu and mem, preventing the game from launching. This also happens with some other games. It only happens with games that require the cd to play. The temp file is related to macrovision and I think its necessary to validate the cd, but why is it not working on my machine? I'm running an athlon 64 3000+ processor and two nvidia 6800's.
