Maybe the Heroes don't necessarily look like humanoid where you can choose any type of monster to lead your army with an alignment off course.

Well the heroes already were types of creatures in previous games.e.g. Darkstorm from HOMM III was a minotaur. The problem was that there was a standard male and female skin for the might and magic heroes of each town.
Now in HOMM V they could make different skins for heroes so they don't all look alike.

Which caused Gelu to be blond, Kilgor to be female, and bald, cleanshaven Dracon to have a long white beard. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I hope they do, at least to the extent that HoMM4 did.

To the extent that HOMM IV did? HOMM IV didn't really have different skins, they just had 1 male and 1 female skin for each class (might/magic) for each town. Maybe Mastero had a red Mo-Hawk on your copy, but on mine he was cleanshaven http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
If in HOMM V they're going for the 3d graphics it would be nice if each Hero had his/her own face as a skin on the map. Plus, it would be nice to actually see when your hero is wearing the artifacts you went through so much trouble for to retrieve. But I don't know if that's feasable, so I'll hope for it, but I won't expect it.
