The instruction manual and the past Heroes I've played all have shift + clicking on a group to split them, but for some reason in Heroes V when I hold shift and click on a group and drop it on an empty box, it just moves the units and does not split them. Not sure what is wrong, thanks.

Well make sure it's the left shift button. Also remember that the "pointer" is the upper left hand corner of the troop icon.

Hope this helps.

You must hold left mouse button down (as well as the shift key) and drag the troops to a vacent slot... Phoenix wasn't very clear...

You have to press either shift keys when you start to drag a stack, to PC there is only one shift key, and when you release dragged mouse, valid targets are also stacks with same creature type.

Actually it's enough to press the shift key at the point you release the mouse button http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
