Some specs of laptop are
Processor: 1.86 GHz
RAM: 1024 MB
Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family 128 MB.
Can I play Heroes of Might & Magic V?

*I could play in Beta Version but in Demo Version could not play Heroes of Might & Magic V.

If you have some suggestion pleases reply. I hope my laptop is able to play Heroes of Might & Magic V because I love this game.^^

Thank you^^

LOL, I have the exact same system (Dell XPS is it?)... Anyway, I have a problem; the game crashes after the Loading screen. I have the latest Intel drivers, DX 9.0c from the game DVD. Does the game not work on Intel based video cards? Will there be a patch or smth to fix this?

Hope you can clarify things up for us.

Thanks and take care.

Since they changed the graphics from the open beta to the demo&retail this graphic card (Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family 128 MB) will not be able to run the game now.
They will probabbly fix it via patches.

Just wanted to put my word in here too :P, I have the same gfx but will with 100% certainty buy the game when it supports it.

And maybe if you take yourself the time making it work on it, you might bother making a widescreen resolution possibility http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Played the game in the beta and liked it very much, hope i will be able to play it one day.

to run homm5-demo on your laptop try to do the following steps:
use any 16bitHEX editor,
open with it H5_GAME.EXE file,
then find line number 001824a0,
in this line find figure 51 and change it to c3

tou'll also need to fix the user.cfg file
setvar gfx_texture_mip = 1 ( or 2)
setvar gfx_tnl_mode = 1
setvar gfx_fsaa = 0
setvar gfx_fullscreen 0 or 1

emilos7: I agree. When HOMM V will support Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family 128 MB I will buy the game. I think there are many people using this card dissapointed requirements. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

GMA900 grapihcs accelerators are a pathetic excuse for a graphic card. It's not UBI or Nival's fault that they won't run HoMMV.

CandyKid: I didn't say that Intel 900 is good card. I said that I want to play HOMMV on this card. I do not play any other games so I don't need good graphic card.
Intel 900 has Pixel Shaders although there is something strange in it. So it is theoretically possible to run HOMMV with this card.

It is not an empressive video card but it CAN run HeroesV, we saw it in the beta :-) And as Qyusson wrote too, i don't play any games so dont need some kickass gfx to eat my battery away http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The GMA900 is lacking certain key pieces of hardware whose jobs are handed off to the CPU instead of having a discrete/complete graphics core (even if it is integrated).

This is why Core DUO laptops are much better performers than Dothans (Pentium-M/Centrino).

emilos7, are you sure somebody with a GMA900 or GMA950 was able to play the beta? There's a lot of us who'd love to get in touch with them and find out what they did and what their hardware is!

I've tried a lot of tweaking on my Dell XPS M140 to run the demo, but it fails every time...

I suggest anybody wondering why the GMA900 has such poor performance/compatibility with games should read this (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2143). The difficulties arise in the fact that the GMA900 has no vertex shader (this is the part the CPU does) and no T&L capabilities.

Does anyone know if it will run on a ATI RADEON Xpress 200 series (128 MB) graphic card?

Other specifications for my laptop are:
1,8 GH
1022 RAM

unreal_az

Secret_Holder it may (cause they said any laptop cards aren't supported) and you will have bad quality and speed.

Then I'll just have to wait. But that's not a big issue as it'll be availible soon.

I DID play the beta on my laptop, but according to someone further up on this page it was because they used some other something. But only played a few games because it took too long, and i had some crashes before getting into the game & problems with the host/join games thingie. I did absolutely no change in the game eccept low res/detail and such.
My computer is a Zepnote 2215W (http://www.zeptoeksperten.dk/Default.aspx?/page=NotebookSummaryPage&notebookid=RxSAsERTm8eaeIRIi7x) (Danish Page), Power version (doesnt say much more than its with 512 ram :P)

I think this just makes your questionmark even bigger but i actually played to beta :-)

The window mode trick was working for me in DEMO. I bought the game and it doesn't create any profile when I create one from the game, so I can't put it in window mode, any other trcik ?

unreal_az
05-22-2006, 03:03 PM
psycoclown the profile is in My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles
They decided to move it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

User.cfg does not create when I try to play.

unreal_az
05-22-2006, 03:32 PM
In your "profile name" folder there isn't any user.cfg?
Try to change a setting in the game and then look for it.

psycoclown
05-22-2006, 04:54 PM
Okay, I found a way to create the user.cfg, however, the window trick isn't working, so what now?

unreal_az
05-22-2006, 05:27 PM
Well you shouldn't create it manualy it should be created automaticaly by the game otherwise it won't read it and i'm quite sure any settings you make in it don't work.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but does anyone know if the fix that armenazatian posted earlier (the one involving hex editing) works for the full game? It worked for me for the demo, and I'd really like to get the full game. That said, I'm only going to have access to my laptop for a couple of months, and I'd rather not get the game unless I'm sure that I can play it.

I found the way to change it automatically : I only had to connect on the internet. However, I really can't open any single/multi/internet game, its pretty pissing me off.

I haven't changed the 16 bit hex, like the other guy said. I did it on demo, however. I can't open my heroes 5 in hex editor, no clues why.

I know it says it's for mx but it's the same(modified) exe you guys use for laptop.

Does anyone know if these .exe files works with full game for Intel GMA 900?
That's funny Ubi doesn't care supporting more cards. Is it really so difficult.

the .EXE for GForce MX users worked on my Intel GMA900
with that .EXE I can play with my laptop (centrino 2.0GhZ; 1G DDR2; Intel 128mb video) and old PC (athlon 1.4ghz, 768mb RAM; GForce2 Pro 32mb!)

Greetings people:-)

I have just bought Homm V out of sheer excitement, but forgot to double check whether my laptop met the requirements!

By the looks of things my measly ATI Radeon 7500 graphics card wonâ´t do anything for me - am I right?
And if so - is there any way of upgrading this without having to pay 100000$ on a brand new graphics card?

Cheers
Ras

Am I reading this right that if I use this this to change the one line, I can use a laptop with the intel chipset (915/910) to run the game? I hope so!!!!

I'm no code writer, but how do you edit the code using an editor, and where do you find a 'good' free one?

XazarielX
05-26-2006, 09:22 AM
gleepwurp: Yes you can with intel 915. I tried this. Demo works great. It is even not slow.
In topic Geforce MX 440 you can find link to free hex editor. Edition is very easy. You are looking for specific line and change two letters. That's all.
