What is your favorite video game system and why?

Mine is the Sega Master System because it was the first system that my parents bought me and I always loved sega arcade games. Playing Alex the kidd, shinobi, double dragon, outrun, space harrier, phantasy star, and r-type was just purity of gaming for me when I was just a little kid. Plus the 3d glasses just rocked http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I kinda had a problem when xbox first came out because I am completely devoted to my mac and swore off all MS stuff because I felt like they were trying to monopolize everything...I was very happy with my PS2 (Silent Hill and MGS were unbeatable). Well, I got one for my bf for Christmas and not long after, he got Ghost Recon. I just looked at all the different controls and though it was too hard.

HEH...I watched him play for a day and let's just say, it ended up with us fighting over who got to go next. I ended up getting my own xbox and got more into it than he did. So yeah, I love my wonderful, beautiful, green, glowing, xbox hehe

I agree with seppuku and valkyrie. Xbox. Not because I won one from a national competition. Not becuase its the only gaming console worthy of mention besides my commodore 64. But because I dont feel like a giant using the controllers! Playstation ones and keyboard mouse are just so **** ****y (did I just say ****y....sigh.....)

Okay ill admit that the cube DOES have good titles (Mario Kart DD, Metriod Prime, Animal Crossings, and so on). But the biggest flaw with cube, is the lack of online play. Thats what makes xbox, and even playstation 2 imo alot better. But hey thats my opinion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm gonna just say, Channel F Fairchild. The first console to have programmable cartridges. It also came out the year I was born, '76... so that makes it special.. sorta.

Otherwise I don't really have any favorites. Everything out now will be overshadowed eventually so I'm not going to get too attached.

Well common, you forgot Zelda on that game cube!

But you see, I only break out my other systems for a few good titles they have and primarily only play one.. my xbox. that is why it is the best, muuuhahhaha. Not to mention how much better the games and graphics are on it, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

graphics over gameplay?losaahhh

Vision2279

I agree with Valkyrie, graphics are the make all break all for me when it comes to chosing a system. If the graphics aren't good enough to rope me in, despite the storyline, it won't be as much fun.

This is why I was on the PC for the most part for a LONG LONG time. The graphics on the PC far surpassed that of the consoles and to a slight degree they still do.

But with how technology has come around on the consoles, I would now have to say that Xbox is my favorite system. Now if Microsoft would only create a way for you to upgrade the components in the Xbox like you can with a PC. If they did that, I would be in heaven! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

PS2 is the only one I own as far as consoles go, so I guess that wins. I did pickup a few more titles for it though, GR Jungle Storm and RS63, but have they are no where near as good as Black Arrow or Xbox Versions of the same game (I may have to invest to truly get the best possible experience, Seraph you win http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif)

Graphics are why I preferred Saturn over PS1 (does that sound silly? No jagged-line textures on the Saturn), so it's the same for me with Xbox over the others. I definately Choose Xbox if it would come down to the 3 main systems.

...but I also love my GC, if it had a HD and more online titles, it would own.

Heh. And to answer the inevitable "why oh why did you buy a Gamecube" .. Rebel Leader, yeah you heard me and I'm proud of it, ok?!

Out of the current consoles I guess the PS2 is still my favorite. Not for any good reason mind you, it's just because I haven't played anything on X-Box. <insert audience gasping> I know, shocking isn't it. I had some kind of vendetta against it early on, then KotOR came out and I grew weak but still managed to not actually buy an X-Box ('course it was made easier by spending money on surround systems, DVDs etc.). I will be soon, however, so my opinion might change. Still chaps my hide that you have to pay a monthly fee for X-Box live, but enh.</span>

Im going to have to pick the PC since it's more powerful than any consoles and it has millions of games. That's right you heard me, millions of games! I know what Im talking about, I was once a console gamer and I personally thought that it sucks, especially playing FPS.

Hands down Atari 2600...

J/K

Since I am a proud card carrying member of the party, I bought an X-Box. It turned out to be the correct choice. I now own all 3. But my X-boxes (yes plural) are like my children.

I have my oldest one with its large controllers. I have my modded one that I just do cool networking stuff with. And I have my new one. They are each special in a diffrent way!

Computers are certainly more flexible and have better titles. But lets face it, its cool to just plop down with some friends on the trusty, left over from college couch with a bunch of friends and yell at each other for hours!

The GBA rests comfortably where my heart used to be. It was a tough decision between that and the SNES, but I figured the GBA has some really cool SNES ports plus extras like the newer Castlevania games and Advance Wars games plus the connection feature to the Gamecube. I love 2D style gameplay, and the GBA seems to be the last hope for that style.

..for me, the Commodore 64 will always be the Alpha and the Omega of gaming systems.

Second place would probably have to go to the SNES.

Coming in third would be my good ole', black and white Gameboy.

Those are the 3 systems that i can say i had the most pure fun with.

As for systems i currently own: Ps2 and Gamecube. And of those two, i prefer the PS2 simply because it has the greater variety of titles.

Whenever i CAN get a game for the Cube, i do (because i prefer it's controller. What an awesome little thing!), but my PS2 is the system that gets used the most.

Personally i would have to say the Dreamcast was the best system, and thankfully one the first games i played on the dreamcast was rez.... that game is sex in your hands http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif
i still love going back to that system to play
some of the great games of the DC era Ikaruga, Gigawing, And powerstone 1&2 to name only a few..

Although the xbox with its live capabilty have enabled me to be a god( as stated by my fellow Burners ) in one of the most visually beautiful and original games of it's type Burnout3

and with that i must reiterate... if you would like a race in burnout3 my GT in that game is SilentRACER,

Honestly I've loved the following systems: Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, Sega Saturn(If you have one, Look Clockwork Knight 1-2, Bug and Mr. Bones they're great...lol)N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube. Everything else either sucked or I never owned/played.

Nothing beats cabinets. Only real way to DDR.

...however, the Dreamcast didn't deserve its fate, as I have always claimed.
