Hi There,

It may be due to the release date of the game.

Even though the game is on disc, it's still linked into Steam, so you may have to wait until the game is 'unlocked' via Steam, which for most of the EU is the 10th of September.

I suggested trying the CDKey again tomorrow - once the game is released on Steam.

Or you can try contacting support for your region, details are also listed in the manual.

Ah, did not realize it is not officialy released here yet ...hopefully that is the problem and it will work by tomorrow...

Anyway, thank you for prompt answer http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

If your in any doubt, please check using Steam, it will be able to tell you an approximate time the game will unlock - for example here is mine.
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9164/steamb.jpg

I have to wait a further 6 hours, the time you have to wait depends on the timezone / region.

You can check by starting Steam, going to the Store, and searching for RUSE - or use this link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/21970/

If after it has officially launched your still having problems, please post back or contact Ubisoft support - there is a link in my signature, or contact me if you need further help.

Well i checked the Steam R.U.S.E. site and it looks like this:

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii21/dusanko/Timmy/steamruse.jpg

I highlighted the release date on the right, which says 9. september...and obviously there is not the green table saying how much time is left until the game unlocks, like in your picture...

However i still hope it will work tomorrow...if not, i will post back...
Thanks again for your answer, really appreciate that you care

Judging by that, you should be able to play it now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I suggest you contact Steam support as soon as possible, since it may be a problem with Steam.

If you buy your game inside your country , you should activate your game in you country .

You cannot activate/run your game when you are abroad .

That's why the retail is cheaper then on steam http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I hope your retailer can supply you with the correct version for you soon.

Hello there,

today finally i got mail form Steam Support, saying they registered the game to my account and really the game appeared in my Library section of Steam... but now there is something, i am not sure about:

there was a button Install now right in the Steam window...however i put my disk into drive and run installation from cd-autorun...
this time it did not ask cd-key from me at all, so i pressed "next" and the installation started...
but it seems it is downloading whole game off internet, saying: "Installing from disk" and downloading 5206,9 MB of data...despite the DVD with game is still inside the DVD-drive....
it looks it will eventually download and i will be able to finally play the game, though i need to wait now 5 hours, while i already have the data on the DVD....is there a way, to tell Steam to install it from DVD?

EDIT:
This is confusing as hell. In the download section it is downloading something and it says cca 700/5206,9 MB is downloaded...at the same time the current rate, current network usage - everything is at 0 BYTES
Then the installation window, it says 1400 MB out of 5072 is installed...i tried to launch the dvd drive and the installation still continues...but then it asks for the disk 1!
WTF?

EDIT no.2

Forget it, it still wont work. The weirdest installation i ever saw, just finished, there is still "Install" button instead of "Play" in the Games section...when i click on it, it says "This game was activated with a product code that is valid only in specific geographic region. Since you are not currently in that region, R.U.S.E is not available to play".....

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

So no response...nevermind. One week since my original message with another weekend ahead and the game is still no go. Apparently the problem was already fixed by publisher, but not completely. Though my buddy who got the game same day as i did, is already able to play it since yesterday... i still canīt...

The saddest thing is, if i pirated it, i could already play it for whole week and keep 30 euros. Donīt get me wrong, i do not want to promote pirating...only saying, how pointless and annoying any DRM scheme (does not matter, if it is Ubisoftīs one or Steam or whatever else) is... it never hurts pirates, only paying customers are those who suffer...

If your retailer and Steam have not been able to get it working - I saw Playman.cz said they fixed the issue?

It would appear something very odd is going on with your copy / CD Key, it's strange that Steam managed to get it onto your games list but it's unable to download?

The only advice I can offer, is if Steam have tried their best to fix this for you is a refund..

I would contact Playman.cz and ask for it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The DRM has nothing to do with the reason you can't play - it appears Steam has issues with the CD Key you have, and is stopping the dnowload? so blaming the DRM is miss placed..

DRM only kicks in once you have installed the game.. not before.

The only DRM on the game is Steams own.

Hi there,

thank you for your answer. I kind of apologize for my previous post, i felt increasingly frustrated back on Friday nad suppose needed to vent it somehow... i wrote mails left, right and centre (to Playman three times, to Steam support four times... while my buddy did not do nothing and he already finished the campaign, while i cant even install the game...
It is obviously mistake on Playmanīs part, though i stand by my "resolution" regarding DRM...when Steam asks for CD-key, it is kind of DRM, right?
I still might making a mistake during installation, when they registered the game to my account...i still tried to install it from the disk and it ended up both downloading and installing something at the same time...should i forget the install disk at all and just download it from net? When they put the game to my account, did that mean, they in fact gave me a opportunity to download the version of game, which is not regionally restricted?

Yes.

uninstall the retail version completely and download the 5GB install directly from STEAM.

Hi,

are you the same "the_Monk" from Sins of a Solar Empire forum? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
That is unfortunately not possible anymore, cause after that failed installation i wrote them mail, it is not working and i suppose they took it away from me, cause it was gone from the Games Library next day i ran Steam.
So is suppose i royally screwed it up myself
