Hello,

I purchased GRAW 2 yesterday and must say its a awesome game, when it works. Its got to the point where i just cannot play it for more than 5 minutes as reflected in the crash log without some serious crash. Im lucky to even see an error message as it either reboots my machine or locks it up to the stage where i cant even get to task manager.

Spec:
OS: Win XP 32 bit SP2
Processor: 4400 X2
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: 7800 GTX Ultra

Heres my crash log, note the times between these crashes. And the fatal crashes dont even get recorded here.

Im sure if this product wasnt a computer game, it would be illegal to sell it in this state as there is no way it could have been properlly tested and released without knowing there substancial problems with it. Patch 1.02 didnt resolve it either. Ive already tried returning the game, but was told this is not something the reseller can be held accountable for and i need to take this up with UBI. But because there a huge company they dont care... right?

So what now?

EDIT: I am running the dual core optimizer and i am not willing to assign the game to run on one core as this will destory the performance.

You have direct x problem as is indicated by the crash log. Try installing the latest direct x.

A 'CreateVertexBuffer failed' error is usually (but not always) related to memory or more specifically, lack of available memory on your vid card. Try turning down the texture resolution first as that uses up the most memory. If that doesn't work start dialing down some of the other graphic options.

I'm lucky if I get 5 minutes.

Interestingly, I was able to get through the training mission with no issues.

My crash log, same error over and over and over again:

I also have "delayed sound". In that when you shoot your gun, you hear it a second or two later. This seems to be better or worse from time to time.

I upgraded to a Creative Labs X-fi Extreme Gamer, and now the EAX works, but the crashing and delayed sound still occurs.

This is ridiculous.

Hmm. i still got my 50 bucks still. I'll have to wait for a patch for this game. Good luck beta-testing Graw2 everyone. Hope the fix doesn't take as long as vegas did.*cough* 7 months.

Most likely the games fault, but if it restarts your computer did you check the CPU/GPU and internal tempature in your pc? Overheat causes restarts and lockdowns/failures

I think you have driver problems. AFAIK there are trouble with x-fi soundcards and vista.
GRAW2 has seen 2 patches within one week by no means this game will turn out like vegas, when you now GRIN.....
Not always are the latest drivers the best choise, try the latest ones and keep the older ones on standby.
Are there any apps eating away your ram? close progs and see if it gets better, you might even enlargen the swap files on your HD (I don't know exactly how the " extra memory" on your hdd is called I know you can enlarge it to try to make things run better)

My friend's pc seemed to be having the same issue but he gets no error log (at least not one that you can easily see), the lock happens when he dies a few times and he reloads with "Quick Reload" and sometimes even with the SAVEGAMES reoload.

After a few deaths and Quick Reloads, a high pitch noise comes up and there is nothing you do to it that will get it to shut up or unfreeze. hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing even after leaving the PC alone for more than 5 mins. cold boot is the only way to bring the pc back to life.

Latest sound drivers are in the PC but we installed a fresh copy of the drivers to see... have not tried the directX reinstallation but will do so tonight to see what it does.

Vegas had 4 quick patches that did nothing but fix the way the UBI animated logo will come up so, don't think that GRIN will do much for the SP side of it as it is apparent they didn't do their homework on it.

Ghost_Hybrid, at this juncture, I am willing to try everything to get him going (he's got the same rig I have and this could work for me once I buy the game from the bargain bin http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) but, I don't believe the chipset is VIA, wouldn't that cause more conflicts? Then again, I am a complete Noob when it comes to chipset software/hardware.

Yes I do know Grin and thats why I haven't spent any money on GRAW2. As far as I'm concerned, they still owe me £39.99 from their first beta project, GRAW.

From what it looks like, it's more of a problem with the nvidia drivers. They are slowly getting better though. I am currently running the newest beta drivers from them. But most everything is on low, running at 1920x1200 with the 7950 gx2 video card.
