Windows won't shut down

The game play great; no glitches whatsoever; until I shut down the puter. Hangs at "Windows is shutting down". I can play other games i.e. Myst III Exhile; Sybieria II; or do any other fun things or business glop, it shuts down fine.
HP8760C Windows 98; ge force 4 with up to date drives; windows and ie updates current; 40 G hard drive; about 75% free and is whistle clean .
No way to shut it down except hard boot; arghh!!

Also, check your processlist when you're heading towards shutdown. Check'r out left right and center, anything that looks mys related still running? Give it an end while trying to reboot, see if that helps.

But go ahed and post DXDiag too :P
