I just picked up the new Alice in Chains album and it rocks. I already knew that since I heard all the songs anyway but I still wanted to buy it.

This is the reason why I hate buying these things. I went to my local smaller record store the day before and asked if I could pay for the cd now. The clerk said no. So I said I would be back tomorrow. So the morning arrives but I have to wait for the cable guy for 4 hours. I get to the store at 1:30. I saw a guy walking out with the cd in hand. This better not be sold out I thought...

Flash forward to me looking at the bin and seeing no cd. So I walk to the jerk, I mean clerk and he tells me he sold the last copy. I gave him a dirty look and said, "Oh, I'll go to that other store."

He gives me a dirty look and I proceed to the other store. I find the last cd on the shelf, thank god and walk to the counter. I wait ten minutes before the dumb *** clerk to show up. At this point I just want to buy the cd.

The clerk starts with this crap about how it pains him to sell me this cd. I said look, I just want to buy the thing. He continues in on his diatrab about the singer dieing and all this crap. So I pay for the cd and walk out hating humanity.

That all faded as I popped the disk in my car stereo and drove to work.

The great thing about CD's & more recently DVD's is that they aren't just sold in stores they can be digitally downloaded. However, in some cases like yours probably isn't available by download? Also, maybe this is the time where you go to Amazon or Buy or Bestbuy/ Cricuity City online to buy your items. I don't enjoy going to stores to buy my items because of the same reason you just listed, those jerks.

The guy who talked about how it pains him to cell the CD & crap, he would've annoyed me. Don't see the issue with the first guy though.

Personally, now that they've removed DRM, I get all of my music off of iTunes. Bought an album this morning. Had it in like two minutes.

Yeah the first guy was probably just going by company orders. I would have given you dirty look too if that were me lol
I also have not bought a cd in ages. Usually just burn it to my computer to put on my ipod. Figure I would cut out the middle man and download from Itunes or other means...

So just burn a CD. Duh!

I just let my friends who are cool enough to own a ZUNE come over and sign on to my PC as a guest and then we trade catalogues.

I wanted to buy this album. Mainly because I'm sick of current music. Support the good fight and all that. I guess it was my big middle finger to all the crap music I hear nowadays. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif Plus my old girlfriend hated Alice in Chains. So when I listen to the music I find myself inwardly chuckling. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I'll start buying albums again when they stop mixing 2-3 good songs with a bunch of mediocre crap.

I'm not saying that this is true for every album, but it's been really common in the industry for so long.

I normally only buy soundtracks anymore for this very reason. At least I can listen to the vast majority of the soundtrack throughout normal movie viewing/gameplay to know if I'll like it or not. Otherwise I'll hop on Amazon and listen to the sample for every single track, and if more than about two to three (assuming an average of 10 songs per CD) are "iffy," I won't buy it.

I hate all of the newer bands. I don't think that makes me old, it just means they suck.

I have gotten to the point though where I only buy greatest hits albums or soundtracks myself. At least your guaranteed to get your moneys worth.
