I'm all for fighting against piracy.
But some questions have to be asked
Where is the line drawn?
Do you implement a system to fight piracy even if it means it causes many issues to legitimate paying customers?
Will these customers be inclined to buy another product from the same company?
Will the anti-piracy mechanism remain intact indefinitely?
Yeah, basically I'm ticked, atm I can't play the game I paid for. I'm sure the servers will go back up, and then I can play again. But right now I can't play it WHEN I want.

You mean it's up for some customers. There's a vast difference between universally available and available for X.

Well, if you would ask the paying customers, they will tell you their 2 cents about it, and i am sure that there will be some not so cute words about ubi inside their lines.
I have bought the game 2 days ago, looking forward for the weekend, as i kind of work during week times, like normal people do. Huge dissapointment, i am thinking of a refund if this doesn't fix soon or if this event will repeat and i am sure i am not the only one.
And, since i work in IT, i do believe that the DRM is just an unnecesarry step. Just lost time and money, because it will work fine at the beggining, till frameworks and stuff will be made available for future games.
Plus, you will encourage ****ed clients to ask for refund when a crack will be made available, since what is the point to own a game that causes you so much trouble? Because the game means many hours of work from people who need to be payed? Lol, i am sure that companies nowadays are not into getting huge profits, but they all think about us, clients.
And today i got a good laugh about UBI. I messaged support, and in their automatically reply, it was written: ceive a response to your question by email from Ubisoft Support within the next business day.
For a software that depends on their server, they offer support based on the next business day. Total lack of respect. I have never met such a insolence in all the 10 full years i have been working in IT. Never again.

I do believe that ubisoft will eventually drop the DRM protection as it is stupid and frustrating to the paying legit costumers..
as they have claimed that AC2 can't be hacked with it's DRM protection.. it was hacked just about one week after the release..
they claimed that their servers are top notch protected and backed by a massive server farm
again.. DDoSed so badly that it went down for several hours and nobody could play.
then Skidraw hacked ubisoft website and took it down..
and now the settlers 7 frustration with the DRM going on and off all the time.. why do you even bother Ubisoft? the 0.5 DRM emulator can already launch the settlers 7 game and it's just a matter of time before the bugs will be fixed and the game will be 100% playable by pirates just like it was done with AC2...
so in the mean time you spend ****load of your earned money to back the DRM programs when just a few kiddies with python did a better job at breaking the values of the stupid database your team has created.
how much more money are you willing to loose fighting piracy instead of understanding that people who has respect for you will go and buy the game regardless to weather it can be downloaded on TPB or other torrent sites..
just do your Effin' job and stop the greedy lust for more coins..

If I thought that there were any chance that I could play Assassin's Creed 2 or The Settlers 7, I would have bought them by now. But the label "requires constant internet connection" is a put-it-back-on-the-shelf sticker for me. Let me know when I can play them offline and I will buy them. Sure there are some online games that I will buy and play like World of Warcraft, but requiring every game to be online is ridiculous. There are times that I don't have a net connection, and I do still want to play games on my £1800 gaming laptop at those times, for instance when I am working away from home and staying in a hotel. Those are the times I play games like AC2 and Settlers, currently I'm playing old games because the new ones are unplayable.

This thread has turned into an anti DRM discussion, and as there are plenty of other threads already discussing it, there's no need for a new one.
Also, this particular forum is not a discussion forum, it's simply a forum for seeking help with any gameplay and hardware problems, please use the correct forum.
