I'm having some odd graphics issues on my FX5900 running the Forceware 53.03's.
During the opening cinematic, everything looks fine until just as Jade comes into the picture. At that point, I get a few odd flashes, and it continues to run. As soon as Jade stands up, the whites of her eyes are rendered AWAY from her body, and as she runs, I get massive artifacts. The 1.01 patch fixed the game crashing immediately after the pod hits the ground near the children, but now as soon as I'm given control, everything is corrupted to such a point that I cannot really see what's going on.
In my attempts to play with settings and fix this, I've come across a problem that I can turn any of the options on or off without trouble, until I play with Fastflip. As soon as I turn fastflip off, BGAE refuses to start, and MessageBox's me that IDirect3D9_CreateDevice Failed.
What the hell is going on?

While reading through other bug issues, I figure I'd also note something odd that appears to happen while I'm playing with settings.
When I autodetect, I see two errors that immediately come to mind:
1.)It checks SSE, when I'm running an Athlon T-Bird that most certainly DOES NOT support SSE.
2.)It unchecks W-Buffer, when I'm running a card that most certainly DOES support the W-Buffer(and even the advanced floating point W-Buffer).
What the hell is going on with this game? The only thing saving it from me being upset is that I got it at a very good price.
The detection of SSE while you don't have it may be caused by the patch. It is written to bypass SSE. I suggest that you keep it unchecked, but try different combinations for best result.
For the rest, set the correct settings, and play with the others until you get the best result. (anti-aliasing off, mipmapping off, shadows water detail etc. off or minimized, etc..)
Use lowest possible resolution. I found a fixed BGAE.exe that allows me to play at lower than the normal resolution and has a few more things to minimize video load. It's still quite good on detail, but most important for me was that I don't have a video lag anymore.
You need to realize that BGAE is a very video intensive application, and that even with high-end videocards there are quite a few problems reported. Not that that solves your problem of course.
G-2b, playing the fast game.

Well, I'm running a pretty much top-of-the-line card, and I'm far from being a newbie in terms of basic graphics tweaking and performance issues.
I've tried a range of resolutions, and they've all gone crazy one me.

Hmmm...You have a upper-midline video card with the latest drivers...Have you tried the 1.01 patch since you reinstalled it?

I'll chuckle about the 'upper-midline', but yeah, I installed the 1.01 and it's not helping at all.
Official tech support said I should just play around with settings until something works, which seems a little bit odd as far as advice goes, but I guess It's time to just start enumerating options until it runs right, or I come back with "it didn't work"

A few things I've got figured out:
If Triple Buffering and Fastflip are co-dependant. You have to have either both on or both off.
The problem was the last thing I would have thought, and that is HW Vertext Processing. How this applies, I'm still not sure, but for whatever reason, turning that off fixed my bugs.
