View Full Version : Will this game have ADS?

Basically, when I played Vegas I had to play through the aiming reticule which really didn't make sense to me. When you are in cover there could be a reticule or we could still ADS in first person and then revert back to cover.

When I say ADS I mean like the shooters today, the left trigger/click to aim, right trigger to shoot. Does it make sense to be accurate hip firing?

The right analog stick could be used to go into cover.

So far they have not confirmed this yet, but they have said that they will be providing a control scheme that is more "modern". My guess is that they will have ADS as left trigger.

Based on the podcast, they said that they will still have the old vegas control scheme as an option.

I also believe that the new control scheme will be that way (LT/L1 for ADS).

But the most important thing would be that ADS is more useful than hipfiring this time.

I posted three questions at Facebook (regarding ADS better than hipfire, one-life only modes and private matches/lobbies including everything unlocked) but none of them was chosen for the podcast.

When I read the title I thought you meant Ads as in R6V2 advertising tropic thunder lol. ADS = aim down sites? If so I agree. I think that it would be more believable if a group of professionals used their sights more then not. Me and a friend of mine shot at a target 50 yards away while hip firing. The closest shot only manage to hit the target stand.

so yeah reviving this thread again. Ubi-Mush can you send this request to the developers: Left Trigger Aim Down Sights, Right Trigger Fire, no cover system.

10-08-2012, 08:09 PM
I'll send it along for you. Even though I'm not Mush. lol

Side note: I've been playing R6V2 lately and I am always wanting to ADS with my left trigger and it screws me up. I understand the set up as-is because the left trigger puts you into cover, but I'm sure the expert devs can figure out another way to manage this. :)

Ye that screws me up too playing modern day shooters then going back to games like vegas, Im pretty sure most of the hardcore guys like the dude with the russian name and the other guy the real720 will bash this thread cuz they hate any change what so ever even if it will change the series for the better

Also being a PS3 gamer alot of FPS's and TPS's dont allow you to use the actually triggers buttons (L2 and R2) to shoot and aim , Max payne 3 is the only game I have where they actually ask if you wanna use the bumper buttons or trigger buttons to shoot and aim, Im more of a trigger person, evilpixie pass this on to the dev cause I dont wanna be force to used the bumper buttons at least give us a choice

See I'm just the opposite. The LT for cover is perfect, its so much more smooth than say GRAW2 that's more sticky you could say. Honestly though the best cover system Ubi has done is SCC. V1/V2 are close seconds but Conviction is top of the line.

I too like a cover system (in theory) and the left trigger system. I don't like being locked into cover like in GR but I like being locked into ADS if you know what I mean. It's just a shame that a good cover system has never been done. Conviction's was great for its application but god view in a competitive shooter is just stupid.

I don't know if you noticed, but I believe they removed god view, I mean if you look at the target footage you will see the character goes to cover and the camera zooming into the character, then he has to peak to see behind cover ((down the bridge)).

Yeah I did notice. Hopefully it turns out as it was presented then although the camera did seem to sit a fair way out to the side when he was taking cover behind the cars.

ah I remember that, to be honest I was glad they put the peaking function to a better use, it is also there in Blacklist/Conviction but you got god view and above all you have the reticule there even without peaking, so you can pop up head shots like magic, comes with being a top agent.

I hope R6P tries its best to have a balance between casual and hardcore ((Sears Vision)), and not go more heavy into the casual Territory..

I just hope that they already noticed the dozen of posts alot of fans ((including myself)) made about not changing how R6P looks, but rather focus on the gameplay, I will be really disappointed if I see R6P totally changed like GRFS, R6P had the perfect look and setting IMO

and I hope they notice that we want a deep hardcore experience, and they need to have balance between Casual and hardcore, with more emphasis of course on hardcore features.

Seems like I always quote you Sameer lol! But very true. QFT, though it appears Evil already knows :)

But seriously, I completely agree. I just think of Sear's quote (don't remember the whole thing) but it started, "why can't a game talk about issues?" And the whole rest of the game following in the very modern, believable, ripped from the headlines feel. Quite honestly that's starting to lack in TC games I fear. I and Sameer and a few others I'm sure are really counting on RB6P to prove us wrong, to make sure that the Tom Clancy title isn't just some watered down selling point/selling name. TC games have always pushed what's current, or pushing slightly future tech; I just don't want them to be lost entirely to gimmicky gameplay in an attempt to please the mass market. Because the thing is, the mass market won't be drawn to a TC game any more than CoD or whatever else. By going against the grain, pushing the normal boundary aside, that makes a mark. Look a Dishonored. I think it speaks for itself.

I hope that is the case, I will really ((and I mean really)) disappointed if R6P changed like GRFS, so I am just hoping that they are remaining true to Sear's vision.

and I can't thank you enough for always forwarding our threads and feedback to the devs, I would wish you become a Com.Dev yet I am afraid you won't be hanging around here then. :(

Agree with every single word, and I would like to add another small thing, Sears said:

"In fact, while he wants to make tactical play more accessible, Sears is also keen to make it more realistic and more of a present concern for players, noting that in previous games, it was easy to send your team in to soak up enemy bullets without worrying about casualties before going in to mop up. "You have to use your team constantly," he says of Patriots. "One man goes down, that's a third of your fire-power. I wanted to spend a lot of time on developing AI that behaved intelligently and required you to act as a leader. It was often too easy before. This time we wanted to make it more of a requirement that you be an active leader rather than a passive leader."

I respect him alot, cause he pays attention to stuff that means alot, like AI which is a big part of any game.

I hope the game is made to everyone's satisfaction as well. I can make the team aware of your requests, I can't control whether or not they listen to them.

Perhaps I should buy a whip and start cracking it? ;)

@Evil - Do what you gotta do :p

@Sameer - completely agree...again. That's a big part of the game and if it falls flat, you can ruin the rest of the experience entirely.

@ALL - Does anyone know where Sear's is now? He's like still with Ubi correct but like as an instructor or something? Thought I had read that somewhere but it'd be interesting to see what he's going to work on next.

I will also include this request in my reports,

They would have already read the Facebook request from last year http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/598634-Will-this-game-have-ADS?p=5358215&viewfull=1#post5358215 so fingers crossed :) We will of course update you when we know more information.

He's no longer at Ubi. He recently jumped ship to SOF Studios: http://www.offdutygamers.com/2012/08/david-sears-joins-sof-studios/

Haha! I just need to get a whip. I can start with slow intimidation -- start cracking it so it just grazes their cheek. Then crap will get start gettin' real.

Or I could submit the feedback in reports and email, it's likely more effective. Something about using honey and not vinegar.... ;)

well that's what you are doing now, and I am keeping myself in check because of you, but if when R6P is revealed it isn't like what we wanted ((same look as Target Video, hardcore, .....etc)), you gotta go and do some Whipping ;), you will be our TERMINATOR :D
