View Full Version : OT : Fighting Back On Junk Mail!

I'm TIRED of all the junk mail that I get at home. Sifting through my legit bills I always find some envelopes that are not marked with enough information for whom they came from. Some of the mail that I got the other day waste my time. I get mail sometimes with envelopes with no idea who sent it because the return address wasnt very clear on where it was from. Well I'm fed up with all that. Now my solution to this spam war with the mail is to send their junk back (without my name in it or customer #) Some of the common places I get junk mail in my box is from credit card companies. Well I just fill it with just about everything. Pack it good. Weigh it down and make it heavy. When they get their "No postage necessary if mailed in the US" envelope back their company will be charged the cost of that envelope going back to them. If enough people do that then maybe just maybe they will get the POINT!

Here is an example..

I got netflix anyways so I dump mail in my postoffice box anyways nearly daily. Call me mean call me what you like but dont call me late for supper. Give them what they deserve!

Nice going! Now if only you had access to lead plates that are the right size for an envolope. Just stick in one plate per envelope. I'll remember this http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif .

Funny thing though it can work both ways that is if you have a buisness you can fill these envelopes with your buisness cards of your company or small buisness. The poor sap opening them and co-workers around them could get wind of your product. Better yet make offers to hire them which makes them quit their jobs in search for a better company! LOL's!!!! Ha ha thats funny! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That's only one reason I flat out refuse to immediately pick up when it rings. I let my answering machine give it's intro while I wait to see who it is. 100% of the time it works. But it NEVER fails that if I forget to wait and I answer immediately, it's ALWAYS a telemarketer! But since getting on the national no-call list, calls have almost come to a stop.

omfg, people ring my home phone from the call centres in india AT LEAST ONCE A DAY!

Most of the time if there is no noise for the first 3 seconds of the call (the lag) thn i will put it down becuase i KNOW its from India call centres.

Ive even had it where you pick up the phone and it AUTOMATICly calls them! so your paying for there call! it makes me really mad. I try and ask them who is paying for the call but they just avoide it! so I hang up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good to get that off my chest

Thats another thing too. Excess phone fees!. I have basic line here. I have 2 phone lines with basic. Basic from veriaon is with local calls which are free and NO long distance. If I need to make a long distance call I use a walmart calling card which BTW can be recharged. Whats great too is I get what I pay for and no weird state to state fees and such. Another advantage of not having a longdistance service on your land based account is that you can better avoid fraud use of your land based phone. Copper lines can be tapped very easy weather it be out side your ranch style home in the country or if you live in an apartment in the city usually the service box for everyone is in the basement. If its an open basement ANYONE can clip on 2 clamps to the wire terminals to get a tone and steal your line for a few minutes! Having no long distance is the way to go. Basic service still lets you call the free 1-800 -1899's which most phone cards have. Its the best thing Ive ever done to counter those problems.

I got a call from a telemarketer at 5am one time.

Her response? "Well, I'm on the East Coast and it is 8am here".

CLICK.

Yeah, Despair is hillarious.

They used to have a bunch of other posters that had probably some of the funniest lines I have ever read.

Sometimes, if it is a female telemarketer, I'll ask them what they are wearing. That can usually be counted on to piss them off.

If I'm in the mood to piss people off and I get one of those telemarket calls I turn the conversation around quickly asking them all the questions. "so where you at?" "Whats your buisness address and tele # so I can get back to you." "do you have a website?"

Usually I ask for a website first and investigate them. (only if Im really very board)

This time it was a larger envelope so U know what, all those AOL CD's that I saved for some reason does come in handy other than coaster, just slide one of those in there! also I was eating a candy bar so they got the wrapper. LOL! Along also all the BS they sent me minus my name. Let them send me their BS. I want it not to stop now. I'll make them pay!

Another idea is to superglue a paper inside which is a few papers thick with the only print written to say "F**K- OFF!" I think they will get the point. Another one goes in the mail today. For surely everyone at work will know to do soo too. Why didnt I think of this idea sooner!

Anyone with similar ideas? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
