The idea of the topic is to reanimate these boards a bit and to attempt to influence at least partially Ubihole's arbitrariness http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif when it comes to creature naming (which, in some cases, gives less-than-perfect results). The poll will record the opinions of the would-be players regarding the officially announced names of all creatures. I intend to keep it dedicated to certain creature for several days (say - 5) and then update this post with the results and eventual change suggestions, then move to the next creature. We should have a general idea of what's good and what's bad after a few tries.
Note: if you particularly like or dislike the name of certain creature, please state why. If the name is to be changed, give your suggestion for a new one and explain why it is better. If you have no strong feelings towards certain creature's name and don't care if it stays the same, better vote "like".

So, starting with the Necropolis Skeleton/Bone Guard. While Skeleton is indifferent-to-slightly-likeable for me and is an old-school name for these tier 1s, Bone Guard is just stupid. Reason: the creature is clearly a skirmisher, while the medieval-like guard units are almost exclusively hand-to-hand fighters and normally elite ones. Also Bone Guard just shouts "I simply can't imagine something less uninspired, deal with it!". The change I suggest is Skeleton Legionary - the skeletons have always been the most numerous tier 1s on the battlefield (legions) and are equipted in a fashion somewhat similar to the Roman legionaries with pilum-like spears and seem capable of engaging the opponent in melee combat.

Your turn. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm just going to add one thing here. I think we should hold off on the name debates. Simply because I'm still seeing multiple versions of the names. I don't know if this is due to the language translations or not, but I've seen 2 or more versions for nearly EVERY unit in English. Just so you know.

When H5 was being developed, there were name changes being done very late in the process. So anything we see now, is quite likely to be changed. That goes for names of skills, spells, etc.

Unless the name is simply absurd (like implying that changing the colour of the bear you're riding changes everything), I'm fine with just about any name.

But if the unit is the exact same and serves the exact same purpose, I'd rather it kept the same name, or at least close enough. Changing master gremlin to supreme Gremlin, for example, would be fine. Changing what is obviously a gremlin to boogeyman would not be.

When H5 was being developed, there were name changes being done very late in the process. So anything we see now, is quite likely to be changed. That goes for names of skills, spells, etc. Taking this into acount, the purpose of the topic could be to evaluate the current "work name" of each creature as it is presented to us and to suggest whether it suits it or needs to be changed to whatever. Some sort of democratic control, so to speak. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I suppose if there is enough activity, the devs (or whoever is naming the bear-garden inhabitants) could consider the given suggestions. I doubt that the creature designs will undergo much changes - some re-painting of the basic models at most - so if we have the pictures and some very basic descriptions (like demon-servant of the Demon Lord of Nostrum, for instance), we could easily imagine and suggest what names should fit them. Some creatures are important to the lore - like the Angels - and their names can not be debated much, but the greater part can easily be renamed at any time.

I dislike bone guard because it doesnt fit the look of the unit. Bone guard sound elite so i expect for a fully plate armored skeleton in mid tier but instead we have a light armored range unit.

Skeleton legionary sounds almost perfect. The bone guard is wearing the lower part of a tunic (kilt like, dont know the name) which is very like ancient roman/greek wear and the helmet some what does resemble the shape of a legionary (except the design on helmet) A shin guard and metal brace also in legionary armory. I think all it needs is the roman plate armor and we got a perfect skeleton legionary there
