Anyone have the above?

Thoughts or other recommendations for the same price?

Also, is it best to go for the PRO or the vanilla?

Thanks.

Have had a pro for 2 years and have no complaints. CH and TM make better gear, but you pay for it. Very good value for money.

I choose the pro partly because it looks better (black vs grey and blue) and also because it has the duel spring in the base for better feel, especially near the center.

I've had the X52 Regular edition with blue 'tie-fighter' lights for what maybe 6 years now?

The stick is okay, the 2nd stage trigger failed years ago and now is only a single stage. The button placement on the stick is pretty good though, but the stick feel I would call average or bit better than the real cheapies.

The throttle on the other hand still works great, and its awesome. The feel and the button placements and knobies are really good, Not possible to find a better throttle anywhere near that price range, I think its better than alot of higher end throttles.

So where the X52 looses in ruggedness and maybe stick feel, it makes up in ergonomics and plenty of highly usable buttons and controls. You will never have to use your keyboard again because your control setup didn't have enough sliders and 'clickables'.

I had the standard X52 for about 2 years, and then the stick failed. It would play fine for an hour, then quit. I had to unplug it, plug it back in, and reload IL2 so it could see it. Was this way for a bit, then it was down to 30 mins before it died, then 15, then 5. Right now, I have a cheep Av8R and still use the X52 throttle. Throttle still is rock solid.

Honestly, no. There is no real good HOTAS setup at the X52's price point. Its just sad that the stick has problems with lasting long!

There is a much cheeper HOTAS, the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X, but I would only reccomend it to new pilots. Its a good cheep way of getting into full HOTAS, but after that, the sky is the limit.

Well I've had maybe 6 of 7 X52 since I started playing iL2. If you go that route buy the extended warranty. They died on me after maybe 2 months of use. I did fly back then an average of 4-5 hours a day... Ha the single life...

One thing to give the stick a better feel is to cut a plastic disc, compress the spring belown the base of the stick and place the said **** between the spring and plastic grip. this will frim up the stick big time.

I now fly with the X-52 Pro. Seems to be better in term of durability. I don't fly as much though. The placement of the rotaries on the X-52/Pro is IMHO the best.

I'm thinking of buying the Thrustmaster Warthog in the futur if they can work all the small issues with it.
