Can't reinstall to save my life. HELP!

Played through Far Cry a while ago, uninstalled to save some space.

Decided I'd like to try 'er again with my new hardware. To my surprise, the game won't let me reinstall...

I get a "Product already installed. To remove existing product, use add/remove programs panel"

OK, it's not in the panel, because it was uninstalled a while ago. So I went in the registry and deleted any keys containing "far Cry" or "Ubisoft"...

STILL, no dice. Get the same error message installing as above.

Then, I tried no fewer than 3 registry cleaning apps.

*STILL, no dice. Same message on reinstall, "Product already installed. To remove existing product, use add/remove programs panel"

Is there ANYTHING else I can do here? Are there any other registry key names I shoulkd be deleting? I'm fresh out of ideas at this point.

Last time you had it installed did you patch it?

Patches also need to be removed ideally in reverese order...

From the DVD/CD do you get a repair installation option?

Never patched it, played it a long time ago.

Don't get any options. The autorun on the CD doesn't recognise that far Cry was ever installed; only once it's actually installing does it tell me I have to uninstall first.

There's *GOT* to be a registry key hiding in there somewhere. But if I've already gotten rid of everything Ubisoft and everything Far Cry, what could it be?

Im not on firm ground when giving advice on editing the Reg...
You could look for keys with Crytek in them?

The other way to get it installed would be to spoof the installer into thinking it is already installed, then you should get the repair installation option...

Only thing is I dont know what key or file it checks for...

Anyone?

A final option (you wont like this...) is to reformat the drive...

If you have new HW and last played before 1.3 patch it is definately worth it!
