For some reason i cant get the demo to run on my primary monitor. It is set as my primary monitor in my display settings but the game always appears on the other monitor (which is on my left). I have tried switching it so the computer thinks the second monitor is on the right but it still stays on the secondary monitor.

Try running dxdiag and see which one comes up as Display 1.

I know in the nVidia driver there's an option in the nView settings that specifies which one is primary (and it seems slightly different from the one you get in the regular control panel). Even if you're using an ATI card, there may be something similar there.

To Wolfe: (Just saw this post)

I know this was a while ago & you probably already know this & found a solution to your liking... but for whatever it is worth & if someone else runs into the issue...a very simple answer would be just to:

1) Enter your display properties
2) Select the settings tab
3) Select (or highlight) your #2 monitor
4) Uncheck the box that says "Extend My Windows Desktop Onto This Monitor"

This obviously assumes you have your dual monitor system engaged. Once you follow the steps above... I'm confident you won't have any problems running the demo on your primary monitor. This will disable your secondary. If you want to go back to your dual monitor setup afterwards simply follow steps 1-4 but RE-CHECK the "Extend My Windows Desktop Onto This Monitor" box. It's just a quick solution if you want to get playing.
