I've been playing SH3 for years now and, since SH5 doesn't look like it's going to be worth it for me in the future, I am thinking about getting SH4. I have a few questions though.

Does it require much more graphics processing than SH3? I have a mainstream laptop with integrated everything so SH3 was about the limit of what I can do easily. Just a little more maybe.

Is it as in depth/realistic as SH3 with GWX? With mods enabled?

If you do decide to buy SHIV, try and find a copy of the Gold Edition of SHIV on disk. The Gold Edition is the latest version (v1.5) and most of the really good mods are based on this.

My personal recommendation is yes buy it, you'll be glad you did.

I agree with Tambor, get the Gold Edition. But get the disc and don't download it. Once you have the disc you don't have to deal with any D/L issues and you can transfer it to any future build you may want to pursue.

Based on what you describe regarding your graphic card, it sounds like a bigger one is in your near future. I had a 5300 and I ordered a new one to handle this addiction. Nothing worse than trying to play something on a subpar unit.

I have to concur with Captain_Smess, a laptop with integrated graphics may have some considerable difficulty keeping up with SHIV. You might also consider a more powerful CPU, though that depends on what you're running now. Hey, look at it this way, it's the perfect excuse to get that gaming computer you've always wanted. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

My wife doesn't realize this, but I bought a new computer just to be able to run this game. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif I used the excuse with her that a high end machine will "take longer to go obsolete." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

That's, pretty much, the same excuse I used to justify the expenditure. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
