View Full Version : Conviction short handed to make way for Ghost recon?

I was thinking about why conviction might have been short handed. Not that I'm complaining in any way,Conviction is a game that has to grow on you, and it did grow on me after the 3rd or 4th run through of the demo. But I was also thinking about how future soldier seems to be highly anticipated, at least to me. If ghost reacon becomes a breakthrough, I think we might have an answer as to why the approuch to conviction seemed "lazy". Anyone else think thats a possibility?

I don't think 4 years and complete re-do is lazy by any standards...

yeah this is true, but I guess what I'm thinking is that maybe in the middle of the redo they started thinking that it was taking to long to finish the game and they knew that we were getting anxious so they threw what they had together to satisfy us quickly, and relizing they had other projects to work on. Because we all know that Ubisoft is capable of making breakthrough after breakthrough.

i think conviction will obliterate ghost recon in terms of popularity and gameplay.

hmm i dunno aye, but if you want a game that has strayed from its roots, see ghost recon. how far its fallen. i think 4 years (for conviction) was getting too costly so they had to get something out to pay the rent:-p but i think this game is way more anticipated than GR as its been in the works for years. I know which game i want more

dude, Ghost Recon:FS is from Ubi Paris. Conviction is Montreal, so why would Montreal developers slow down for Future Soldier, when its not Montreal's game?

You realize you're talking about the videogame industry right? The same industry that hides locked content on discs and then later charges you more money to unlock it as DLC? The same industry that has release day 1 DLC when they had it ready in time to be put on the discs. The very same industry that became "cool" because of Guitar Hero and is now marketing towards the casual gaming crowd that only wants immediate fast paced mindless action?
Or are you talking about the industry that is focusing on a useless novelty like motion control "gaming" because they're trying to attract an even younger demographic? The industry that constantly suckers people into buying accessories for their avatars? The industry that launches flag ship games every year and exhausts great franchises?
You're right...the videogame industry wouldn't rush a game to make another.

Bro, that's the point. They're saying Conviction (CRACKDOWN, anyone?) is just serving as a meat puppet for the GR:FS (HALO 3, anyone?) beta.

i don't think so seeing as how it's 2 totally different teams working on 2 totally different games. i'm sure i'll dislike this ghost recon as much as i have pretty much ALL past ghost recons anyways.

Yeah, I don't think Conviction was short handed, at least not for Ghost Recon.
Then again, I've never been much of a fan of Ghost Recon.

I dunno man, GRFS looks like pretty cool beans.
Anyway, the chance of them cutting a game just to make another one look better is stupid, and if it's being done they need to fire their marketing director. xD

I thought the same about the Advanced Warfighter games, but moving the men around seemed similar to driving a tank. The movement controls felt heavy.
But that's another debate for another time.

Funny you should mention that because i've always thought the same way but instead of Ghost Recon i always believed Ubi invested wayyy too much manpower and creative on Assassins Creed.
