By the way,the story of the game? where can i found it, and who is the character (me) wat is he doing there? is him a detective? of some kind?
Well this are normal questions for some one that is new in this game! bur i like it very much.

Welcome xingu,
In MystIII:Exile you have returned (from Myst and Riven) to visit with Atrus after helping him in the previous two games. As it happens, Saavedro steals the Releeshahn book while you are there, and as you pick up the linking book Saavedro dropped you are linked to J'nanin after him. Now you have no way back and must solve a gauntlet of puzzles in order to return. You also want to get the Releeshahn book back for Atrus.
As for the scene transitions, try this:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Select "options" from the front of the book when the game first opens.
Select "game" from the left page.
Move the slider under "transition speed" all the way to the right.
Click on "back" at the bottom.
Load a saved or begin a new game as you prefer.[/list]
The diffusion will be as little as possible now.
Good luck, and good journey!

Your character is no-one special. In the previous two Myst games you have been an anonymous person who has assisted Atrus (the man who you meet at the beginning) with two "missions". It seems that, for whatever reason, you have come to visit Atrus again, but when Saavedro steals his Releeshan book you need to follow him to get the book back. That is essentially your mission - get the book back, and return it safely to Atrus.
In the first Myst game, you met Atrus' two sons, who are not good people. As you play Exile you will find out more about the grudge Saavedro has against Atrus and his sons.
You should remember at the end of the game that Saavedro clearly doesn't like Atrus, and may do anything that would hurt or annoy him, so be careful not to give him the opportunity to do so!

I think Atrus should get that book back his own damn self!!!!
Ha Ha Ha just messin around. I love this game. Just got it tonight and have never played any other myst games ever. The puzzles are great, you really, really have to pay attention to every detail.....its good. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in....Thanks

Actually Skenny I agree with you! In Myst, Riven and Exile you spend a lot of time doing Atrus' dirty work for him. And you don't get much in exchange aside from a quick 'thank you'. Indeed, in Riven he and Katherine link back to D'ni but they leave you in the collapsing age of Riven to fall into the star fissure and take your chances. In Myst he doesn't even get up from his desk to thank you. Pretty rude if you ask me!

I know! :D :D :D :D
Atrus is notoriously ungrateful! And after all we've done for him! Grrrr! He's just lucky I enjoy the games so much ;)

Well exxcuuuuuusse me......
Here's a guy whose race is struggling for survival, whose wife has been captured (okay, and returned, at least most of the time), whose own sons betrayed him, who is a target of revenge for his sons' transgressions, and whose daughter suffers from peyote induced delusions of grandeur. Oh, and let's not forget that his own father tried to kill him!
And you call him rude and ungrateful ???!!!
Sheesh!

skenny, you just haven't been everywhere yet. When you get to the top of the central tusk, you'll get some information to help you with this.

The book shows you the exact position of all the contraptions. There is one which you may pay particular attention to : the pendulum....it slides down two levels..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif.
You will see the elevator spin when you are inside the elevator after all has been set correctly.Hope this helps! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

As well as the pendulums, pay attention to the rotating wheel with three spokes, and cylinders on the end. The cylinders rotate. Make sure the markings on the cylinders are facing in the right direction.

HELP.. Very new to game. Took forever to light up the beams for the prism. Color Code Anyone? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

The color code is the order in which you arranged the reflectors (starting with the one by the light source).

If you recorded the colors on top of each prism from the ocean to the door you have the code.

What do you mean by "order of levels"?

If you are refering to which age to visit first it really doesn't matter. Each age has it's own environment and puzzles. Nothing is linked between ages other than Amateria, Voltaic, and Edanna must be finished in order to gain access to Narayan.
