I think this is a "technical advice" question, although it has nothing to do with any bug. I'm trying to understand the Uru neighborhood system. It isn't documented anywhere I can find. There are scraps of information on the forums, and on www.greetersguild.com, (http://www.greetersguild.com,) but nothing complete.
Here's what I think I know:
When you first join the game, you're a member of a public neighborhood. You have a book on your Relto shelf which links there. (Mine went to "Friday[4] Neighborhood.") You can only be a member of one neighborhood, but you can visit any public neighborhood, and you can also visit any private neighborhood that you're invited to.
But I'm pretty sure that when I joined, there was a line at the bottom of my KI display which said "Mayor of Zarf's Neighborhood". (Maybe that didn't appear right away -- I'm not positive.) Later, I created a new neighborhood -- using the book button in the Nexus terminal -- and that became "Zarf's[1] Neighborhood", which listed me as an owner, but not a mayor. I think.
So it seems like there are *four* statuses: you can be a visitor to a neighborhood, a member of a neighborhood, an owner of a neighborhood, or a mayor of a neighborhood.
This leads to eight questions already: How do I become a visitor? How do I stop being a visitor? How do I become a member? How do I stop being a member? How do I become an owner? How do I stop being an owner? How do I become a mayor? How do I stop being a mayor?
I can answer some of these. Since I can only be a member of one neighborhood, I stop being a member of X by becoming a member of Y. (I've already managed to switch my membership from "Friday[4]" to "Zarf's[1]". There's a FAQ on greetersguild about becoming a member of someone else's neighborhood. So that's pretty well covered.)
Visiting a private neighborhood, I hear, can be done either through sharing the book in Relto or through the KI. (Does this confer permanent visitation rights to that private neighborhood? Or does someone have to invite me every time I go there?)
This still leaves a bunch of questions open.
Any help welcome.
