Hope you are having a good day.

I'm wondering if sea creatures such as whales, fish, sharks(in tropics) and Seagulls are going to be present in SHIII? They sure are nice company? But then again, perhaps a depth charge might blow one of them whales to bits...man that would be something! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/1072.gif

Seagulls would definitely be nice. I have no need for dolphins nor whales in the water though, as much as I like these animals as a recreational diver

Seagulls. I'll just be nice with seagulls, because are the only animals I can really see from the bridge. Any others, would be visible in the external camera only, and I won't be all day in the external camera.

I dont know, whales might be interesting. It would be good if you could hear their songs with the hydrophones. If you got too close they could even bump into you, damaging the sub. But to be honest, I really cant see it being done and i dont really care. All I want is a game that is the best Sub game ever. So far the only games i can compare it to are SH2 and Silent Service 2- the only two true subsims I've played.

Would be nice to have seagulls and have our look-outs occasionally think they've spotted a plane and the boat has to dive, only for nothing to happen and the only thing left is the uncertainity...

Would be fun...

The DevTeam said: 'Will there be animals as for example: Seagulls, whales, orcas?
We try to implement as much environmental details as possible. This was not a priority until now, so it is hard to estimate at this moment a list of marine life elements that will be included in the final version'.

But that was long ago and not a thing has been said since. Only they know the answer.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/hauitsme/Doh.gif

Seagulls!!! they are vital for realism!!. The rest of the animals are extras. Of course it would be cool to see a whale or a dolphin sometime, if its not difficult or too much to ask.

I want a giant squid to attack my boat!!! Or I won't buy it!!! So there!

No, really, seagulls would be great. I'm not rooting for whales or dolphins, but if a whale did show up and you weren't using external cam, it could make ID interesting.

Agree, I vote for seagulls.

Though this summer (August the 19th) I ended in the middle of a dofin's group with my kayak (about 1200 m. from the coast, near Benidorm, Alicante, Spain). Was just impresive! And kind of unconfortable, the were at least as big as my kayak! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Isn't there a kind of link between ships and seagulls? I mean, obviously fishingboats has the birds all around them because they're pulling tons of fish out the water.
But what about warships and convoys? Surely the food being prepared on there and so on should attract a couple of gulls, flying in circles around the ship and giving away it's position from a couple of KMs away ?

Well now they said there won't be life boats because they taken too much time and resources for the dev.team I don't see if they will have spare time too bring any kind off wales or birds!
Offcourse it will be nice too see them I agree!
But like I said once before,I believe we have some great modders in the U-boat sims walking arround!
So I'm pretty sure they can make lifeboats and surely that the can create sealife!

so heads up and wait for the mods!!!!!!!

A black shadow could be mistakened for an aircraft that is far in the distance. This is historically true. Subs do make false dives because of slow gliding birds. Could make the travel going to port interesting. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think there should be seagulls in SH3 but I dont think whales and other sea creatures appear often enough in real life to make there apperance worth while in the game. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I got some rare pictures of U564, somehwere south-east of the Azores, showing a school of Dolphins shadowing them.

Be nice to see that sort imagery from time to time when on patrol.

Seagulls can reveal the position of an uboat to other ships. So it would be an extra-point to realism.

Operation Flashpoint had seagulls. In fact, I think OpFlash was the world's first seagull sim.

We got the seagulls! And they look cool too! So if its not an aircraft on the horizon it could be one of these. Some of the stories in books and movies mentioned the crew mistaken birds in the distance for aircraft . http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

First I would like to say it made me very happy to see sea-gulls being modeled in this sim:
http://www.silent-hunteriii.com/uk/devdiary/Brest.jpg

Second, I'm afraid though that they took away almost all of my immersion in the image.

The Gulls are modeled with an extra bend midway out the wing, this is incorrect! Look outside and watch the movement as they fly and you will see that the outer 2/3rds of the wing are almost completely straight. Furthermore, even if they were corrected the angle of the wings should be less, movement up and down of the wing in forward flight is normally less than 25 degrees.

The only time a seagull would have wings with angles like we see in the picture is in the last two seconds before landing and then wing angle and body pitch would be completely different.

Is there any chance this could be fixed?

P.S. Some sea mammals should be audible on passive sonar at least.

There is always a sea serpent over the horizon and there are always mermaids under the surface.

One of the screenshots has a seagull in it,the question has to be are they realistically modelled?
Seagulls live in cliffs and disappear inland when bad weather is approaching, they often go around in groups of 50 and stay over a shoal of fish they might have spotted and dive down on the shoal and come up again about 5 seconds later, many just float on the surface.Other follow boats looking for handouts(bums),Seagulls as far as i know have no natural enemies.
