View Full Version : Basic information not in manual

I understand that the done thing these days is to omit information from manuals to sell more strategy guides, but the GRAW manual is particularly egregious. It warns against "the effects of too heavy a burden on your performance," but doesn't bother to tell you what those effects are. Reduced accuracy? Slower running speed? Less stability?

It also doesn't, as far as I can see, bother to tell you what the green cones are in the tactical display. When I move a squadmate I can stretch a cone from a few feet to a screenlength in any direction, which I assume controls his facing. But what is the effect of stretching the cone? Does he only see and react to things inside the cone? Does he react more slowly to things outside it? Is there any reason not to stretch it to its fullest?

I agree with the many complaints on this board that the PC version was particularly poorly planned. Not even poorly executed, because aside from a severe SecuROM bug it works fine on my system. But poorly planned - there is little context or information in the game, not as much atmosphere as other Ubisoft/Clancy titles, and a crippling reliance on forced repetition as gameplay content.

I wondered about the cone too. I figured it was for limiting their view so they would concentrate on something close by and not get distracted by far away tangos.

I seem to always use "far view" however, because I don't want them getting killed because I "blinded" them.

I don't mind them giving us a leaflet for a Manual that comes with the game, but at least give us a indepth PDF file.

I bought the Direct2Drive version of GR:AW expecting at least a README.TXT file. Got absolutely nothing. The demo had more info than the full version. I've had to ask some pretty basic questions to the forums just to learn a little about this game. I am REALLY trying to embrace it, but the feeling that I've been raped is getting stronger...

Or at least a training level. Anyone figure out how to use the GL? Are the numbers on the reticle feet, meters or degrees??

I use the 20 line marker on the GL. Close range it seems to come pretty close to it.. So on long distance shots, I aim the 20 at them and raise it just a little (grenade goes pretty straight with a small arch)

You get better control if you concentrate on one line as a point of reference

Only game that really requires dialing in is JO.. not this game ;P

The D2D version does come with a manual, it's just the shortcut is broken. Search for GR_30875_PCS_MNL.pdf in your installation or installed game files.
