I bought a X850XT and it came with a few games. But, they were only the disk, no manuals etc so this would be a OEM of PC games http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
Not having a clue I have stumbled to the point of getting the flash card and must go meet Ingrid but my ignorance of little tricks in the game in general keeps me fumbling.
If I could just bring my MP44 from CoD2 I could just kill all the insurgents and be done with it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif
Seriously, this looks like fun but getting the hang of it may be the clue to following up on enjoyment.
Ironically, they forgot a CD in the Package so when I asked for the missing one they sent a whole new pack so I have 2 SC-PT DVDs. They would be on eBay if I didn't hate the place!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Can you describe a bit of just where you are and what you have gone past to give us a better idea of where you are stuck. In general, you want to try to avoid people where possible. Weapons should be used as a last resort, but there are times when they are necessary. You can use distractions like throwing objects or whistling (press "V" on your keyboard) to distract them. They will come to investigate so move from the spot you were. Stay in the shadows. You can shoot out a light for more darkness if that is helpful.

Thanks for some tips.
I get to Douglas, get the chip and am ordered to find Ingrid but can't get past the guards and the reset is a long rewind when I am detected. There must be a special little thing that gets me out of there to find Ingrid.

That helps me know where you are. If you are in a crouched position and not moving too quickly you can sneak past people as long as they are not looking at you. You can get past the guard in the next room with the hostages this way and head down stairs. Down here, there is a room on your left that has meds in it- I don't remember if there are other supplies too. There are two guys playing craps or something and another guard walking around. Note his pattern.

As he is walking away from you, go the same direction (starting from the bottom of the stairs- it is dark here and they can't see you) up to the first piece of furniture and do your back to the wall move on it (face it and press "Q" on pc) and then do a swat turn to the back of the sofa. To do this, move with your back to the wall (or whatever) and when you get to an opening and you peek around the corner, press the space bar while still holding down your direction key. This is a great way to get across any small opening unseen. You can realase from the back to the wall by pressing "Q" again. Continue to the far corner and find a bottle to use as a distraction. I usually do a quick save here. Move along the back wall as far as you can and still stay in the dark. When the patroling guard is again heading away from you, toss the bottle somewhere down towards the far end. Watch the guards and make sure none are looking in your direction and the proceed towards the corner ahead. Important- resist the temptation to go quickly. It will make noise which they will hear and they will start shooting. Keep movements slow. Once around the corner, you will be told how to do the next part. You will be meeting Ingrid shortly.

I don't usually give so much information, but I wanted to let you see how you can do it stealthily. It is often easier (and safer) that shooting it out. But that is fun on occasion too!

Thanks, that helps a lot.
Also the quick save thing. That means if you are detected it restarts at the quick save??
That would be cool.

F5 is quick save. When you fail or get killed you can choose to restart either from the last quicksave or their autosave. Makes it nice for getting throuth the really hard parts without redoing the whole section again. You should be good for a while now, but if you have more questions I will still try to help. After this, I will give just enough info to get past the stuck part.

I like this game a lot because you are not just running around shooting things. You have to figure out where to go and how to get past obstacles- whether that is people or physical barriers. After the first couple of times I go back and play it again trying to see how few people you have to kill or even knock out. It has much more replayability than lots of other games.

Just looking at your post, JZ, have you tried the thief series? I was heavily addicted b4 I got into SC. Plenty of stealth and strategy there, worth a look! But, no guns...more medievil. bye

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried the demo for the first one which was OK but maybe I should try another.

yea, I tried demo of first one, started the hunt and got the 2nd game, metal age, and of course got hooked. I personally think deadly shadows, 3rd, was the best..some would disagree, have played it 4 times. I think you would like it. Happy easter!
