View Full Version : one thing i dont miss from HOMM III....

im up to map 4, campaign 2, and so far, none of the enemy heroes have fled from combat....
do the computer heroes in this game ever flee from combat? i used to always try to make sure i got the shackles of war in HOMM III, or would be very happy if i did get them, since it prevented anyone from fleeing combat.
enemies would flee alot in HOMM III.
i would hate it soooo much when during a big battle im HOMM III, just when you think you got the satisfaction of killing your opponent, when hes down to a few troops, he flees.
and you get none of his artifacts.
even more sneaky was when the computer hero would attack, use some powerful spell like armagedon, or implosion, take out a chunk of your forces, then flee right after just to annoy you.
because of that funny animation and gaseous sound that the implosion spell made, i would call that move the "fart and flee tactic".
so is the computer AI of HOMM V smart enough to have its heroes flee from combat? i hope not, cuz there is not shackles of war in this game...

Quite hilarious when read at 4:30 AM.
Personally I havn't seen them fleeing from combat.
(Except ones where it was scripted in a campaign, so that dosn't count.)

I too have never seen a hero run normally in the campiagn, but they DO run a lot in custom maps. So far they've been intelligent on that in my games, only running when it's sure they're going to lose without doing much more damage.
Also, there is an artifact that works just like the H3 Shackles of War, I believe it's called Shackles of the Last Man now.

in 1.0 i never once saw the ai flee. in 1.1 i have, i don't think its a coincidence.

I'm still on 1.0 and the AI flees all the time in campaigns. The only time it seems to happen is when it gets lucky on the initiative and gets to go before I can kill off the last stack. Most recently, an academy hero fled last night during C3M2.

Ai doesn't flee at normal. Play the game on heroic and he will flee with 1 troop remaining. Only if you get luck you can stop him.

After installing the patch the AI flees a lot on normal (playing MP-maps solo or hotseat). Before the patch they never fled.

always played on hard and heroic and the AI loves to flee, so annoying.

interesting...so you think that they put something in the patch to make enemy heroes flee more often...maybe they made them smarter?
and you also think it also is affected by if you are playing the campaign maps, and what difficulty you are playing at affects how often the enemy flees from combat.
darn, and i was hoping that maybe the developers forgot to put a flee button in the computers on screen controls.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
oh well, guess ill be looking for those shackles when i play a regular map....

He flees all the time on Normal for me. But it only started happening around the Dungeon campaign (which is when I installed the 1.1 patch - not sure if that is coincidence or not).

AI has already fled several times before my troops (I didn't notice if this happens since 1.1 version only).
Shackles of war also exist in HOMMV, I've already seen them in screenshots (even though I never had them so far).

i just did Camp2 Mission 3 and he used to flee a lot...
