First of all Hi, my first post...I have read several posts and must say that like many others the sequel to double agent Conviction doensn't really convince me, but I will really know it when it comes out, by the way I was surprised as to see how many of you guys hated DA when i found it really entertaining, but as I could see many people had lots of problems to play this game properly( I played the despised pc version)but I must admint I only suffered from a few of them, some runtime ones and a couple of graphic glitchesbut very few, I thought it was a pretty good game, before getting flamed I must say I did play chaos thory in my no broken ps2 and it was better ,yes, but nonetheless i enjoyed DA too.

Anyway the post was to see if you had read this that i now found in several pages.
---------------------------------------------------

Rumour has it that the decision to rebuild the game will push the title back to winter 2009 or even spring 2010. Ubisoft haven't commented on this yet, but CVG cite Xbox World 360 magazine as confirming that this is a definite.

The big feature that was set to make Conviction a new Splinter Cell experience was the dynamic crowds, with which our hero can blend in, giving players another option beyond shadow-creeping.

Chit-chat suggests Ubisoft were concerned the title wasn't up to par compared to other recent debutants, including Assassin's Creed. Hopefully we'll have more soon.

Update: Time for some of that 'more soon'. Ubisoft released a statement on this, this morning, VG247 quoting a PR rep: "If they've got a Ubisoft source then there's something to be answered there, but if it's just them commenting on something that they've heard, then it's hard for us to make a statement on something that someone's just taken a punt on."

More as we get it.
-------------------------------------------------

I read another page where UBI tries to deny it but no so clearly, anyways it is mentioned in several places that one of the reasons it's been pulled back apparentely is becasue the game doesn't come up tp expectations like Assasins creed, makes you wonder about how much they want thios game to look like that one...in my opinion HUGE mistake... we'll see what ubi says "officially"

Most of the people who hate DA here hate the 360/PS3/PC versions of DA but the xbox/PS2 versions are fine I dont know which did you play but anyways this is old we heard about it before. In my opinion Ubi should start talking because honestly how much more should we wait we have waited 1 year and 1/2 month.

'The big feature that was set to make Conviction a new Splinter Cell experience was the dynamic crowds, with which our hero can blend in, giving players another option beyond shadow-creeping'.

Does this mean 'L & S' is still in the game?

I hope so I really dont want SC to become something like AC and Hitman I want SC to be SC. Meaning it has L&S and sneaking around crowds would be pretty difficult in fact they should give you the option of dressing like a hobo or using the cool suits and equipment.

Oh GOD!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Now they say they're gonna release Conviction in 2010 because they're rebuilding it? This is stupid!

They could've continued making SCC with their original concepts and ideas (i.e social stealth) and released it in 2008, then they could've started working on SC6 and released it by 2009/2010.

WTF happened to the one-year development time for the SC's!?

SC1 : February 13, 2003
SCPT: March 23, 2004
SCCT: March 26, 2005
SCDA: November 7, 2006
SCC : ?????????????????

Look at that, consistent, 1 year apart (give or take) releases between the first 3 titles and 1.5 years between CT and DA.

It would make sense for Conviction to be released 2 years after DA (to follow the pattern).

If ubi doesn't give us anything by this fall, I don't know what I'll do; probably travel to Montreal and burn their office down by placing wall mines everywhere (at night when no one's there of course, except unconcious/dead guards!)!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

And again we have people flippin' out about rumours... is it really that hard to wait for some REAL info to come out? I've been waiting for just as long as most of you, probably even longer cause I haven't played any SC since CT. And look at me, do I freak out about every single rumour?

This is old news and got debunked didn't it? Anyway, Splinter Cell is one of those franchises that doesn't really need a release every year IMO so I'm not bothered about having to wait two years+ for this game, the only thing that does bother me is the lack of updates or information from Ubisoft

The last nugget of information I heard that I took seriously was from an insider gaming blog saying the development team had brought in a load of people from Assassin's Creed to help with the crowd stealth dynamic

Release dates like that are based on speculation by press, Ubisoft haven't announced any such thing.

I did find it in the web but it didn't seem like very old news, and what troubles me( not that much as there are other games to play)is that Ubi didn't actually deny this completely, they just said they couldn't comment on an unofficial statement, that's weird.
Anyhow, it would be nice that they did OFFICIALLY said something even if it's bad news. It's better to let people know than to have all this negative popularity playing against you, even if you do only care about money, from a business point of view of course.

Let's be honest, if the game was supposed to be released a long time ago and it looks like at LEAST we'll have to wait till the end of 2008 o mid 2009 something is up my, friends something is up, but as some have said may be they are just making the game look and work better but mantaining the concept of crowd stealth nonetheless, let's see what happens

If we comment on all statements then there are two main issues:

- We'll have to spend the rest of our lives answering every thing people say (not feasible)
- If we answer something but not something else then people will make assumptions about that

The most recent statement we have for Splinter Cell Conviction is in the stickied post here: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5271091065/m/8541001366

Jakal as Razz explains as frustrating as it might be seeing countless rumours kick off it's simply not practical to address them/ all, and to be totally honest even when we do people still don't believe it and continue to presume the rumours true no matter what we say.

I know its driving some insane but I can only repeat what's been said many times before, sit tight and as soon as there's some news Razz will post it straight here for you all http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Is it possible that we will see it at E3?

I'm betting for Duke Nukem Forever to be there and the absence of ConViction.
