I can believe it. I've come across a number of women on Xbox Live, even before I joined this community.

That makes sense, casual games like The Sims, Animal Crossing and Nintendogs have been very successful at attracting women. Games like these which stray from the traditional concept of a video game are a big part of Nintendo's plan to attract more women into the market.

47% are 50 or older.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif GO GRANDMA!!!
Actually, I played WSOP: TOC and sat at a full 9 person table. 2 of them were female(w/ cameras), and one of them was easily in her late 40's to early 50's. She was in the top three on the money list at that table the whole time.
I think if more and more studies like this are done, it will prove those stats even more true. Every year there are more and more options for the so called 'casuals' to go to.

A very interesting and believalbe article indeed. There are many casual gamers out there and I'm not surprised that alot of them are women. There are many fun games out there, that some people don't even consider. Though they infact are a big part of gaming and help to draw in many new gamers of all different types.

It does one little possible outcome:
Markets move to where the demand is so would we be seeing a lot less classic model "male-oriented" games? The markets seem to be moving in that direction already (if they haven't already done so.)

Y'know, i have noticed this myself. Since my business is in a mall i am good friends with the guys in my local EB and on some occasions when i am in there frequently i might add there are women in there hunting down games. I read alot of gaming literature and sometimes the EB guys will ask me about some games. Well i first thought these ladies were there shopping for junior until they started spitting out details about their favorite parts in some games. It was...cool. What do most of them buy from this particular EB RPG's like Kingdom Hearts or Warcraft, and DDR MAX. Some buy shooters as well. This is according to Dave the mgr at the one i go to.
Hey i say bring the girls on! The battle of the sex's is the best battle if you ask me. Before you say it, i know you didn't ask me.
