Controller Configuration Trouble

I recently purchased rainbow six vegas two and have been playing the game and I really enjoy every aspect of the game except the fact that you can't press either L1 or L2 ( left shoulder buttons) to look down the scope or iron sights. This configuration is so comfortable and I'm so accustomed to it from playing medal of honor, call of duty, far cry 2, battlefield bad company, and all the other shooters I just can't handle using the R3 (pressing in the right stick) to pull up the iron sights. I normally play all shooter games on the hardest setting but I have to play this one on easy because the controller configuration feels so foreign. Does anyone know if it's possible to download new controller configurations and use them with the game on the PS3. I would really enjoy this game if there were some way to accomodate this one small change, I hope there is the game looks so great, it would be a terrible shame if I never played it through because it didn't have left shoulder-right shoulder standard shooter configuration.

Those are the only configurations. Look at the bright side, aiming down sight is pointless in RSV2.

agreed it does nothing to help your accuracy and you actually get more visual recoil.

Thanks, you guys are right, I've been playing into it more and I've gotten the feel for it, it just felt so different at first I was getting frustrated, I never played video games before PS3 so this is the first game I've played where firing from the hip is the way to go. Thanks.

Hey piecemaker,

My accuracy is like 55% and higher when i aim down sights...it does take awhile for someone to get used to the recoil, but i think its way better than hip firing

hmm...there are no stats that separate ADS from hip firing so how are you coming up with 55%?

As far as the game coding is concerned, ADS is no more accurate than hip firing in RSV2.

I get the 55% from when i play in rooms, i will use one or the other...i will use single shot and i can put many in U b4 i get hit (zoom or no zoom). Have u guys tried to ADS cuz it is not hard to get used to. Works great on ten bar lames. I can have the AKS with no scope or G36 with a reflex or acog. I play the same way on high stakes. Not sure why ppl believe hip fire is better? of course u can do burst but ur not accurate at all unless u get a lot of headshots or one hit kills. if any1 has a 360 im down to play. U 2 sure u play the same game cuz ads IS way more accurate man.

Despite whether its more accurate or not I personally thought the ads in both Vegas games was bad. To me it feels less accurate and the visual recoil is weird which made me less accurate.I used only hip fire because if we were playing and equally skilled whos going to win the gun fights? Im going to win them almost every time and it has little to do with accuracy. If both ways of aiming were equally as accurate or for argument sake ads was more accurate then it still wouldn't make up for the ads speed. To me the payoff of not using ads is way more significant then the possibility of maybe having a little more accuracy. Before somebody even got me in their sights theyd already be dead because of the time it takes to bring their gun up.

Id play but I dont have an Xbox anymore.

Not even here to argue this but its about reflexes, u can shot n zoom at the same time..its two fast Rstick clicks, thats it. One can only c their accuracy if u get kills...more accuracy means more kills (i.e 33k/7d 40% acc). Never stay zoomed in but use it when "slicing the pie" its best to zoom IMHO. There is more recoil but u R 2 use burst and not hold down the trigger to correct that! I have to say yes it is different when playing a low stakes match but its still the same mechanics...always protect urself from others when engaging ur main target.

Thats why I said if we were equally skilled. It takes everything like reflexes out of the equation and takes this situation down to the bare minimum to prove my point. The fact is that ads does take more time and in competitive play where everyone is fairly skilled and most of them arent aiming down sight it makes somebody using ads an easier kill. All Im saying is that if somebody can get used to not using a scope its usually way more effective. I didnt even consider this arguing. I dont know why we cant just have a conversation.

Hip firing isnt accurate. it may seem like it is but when u look at the stats every1 is pretty much has 10% accuracy. every1 gets head shots sum r luck sum skill.

Example:

Gb kids jump on my Team Elim host (CQB= great for hip fire) so i place them opposite me making it 3 vs 1, now they hip fire. I win 4/5. Legit gets mad brings in 2 more of his buddies, they win 3 str8 but its always last guy that gets me. Next 2 maps R mine with 5-0 scores. My accuracy wasnt less than 30%.

But hey ive been using ads since the update. Ive learned ppl run around corners stupidly as soon as u come around im already looking ur way. Ur hit and not really knowing where its coming from but im trying to kill b4 u find out, you know!

Connection plays a huge role in accuracy stats. My accuracy always looked bad off my host but it was never below 30% when I hosted using only hip fire. I guess its whatever works for the individual. I was talking from more of a competitive side than public matches. I can do a lot of things in public matches that would get me destroyed in competitive. Not ads has kept my overall k/d around 3 since the game came out. Thats a public k/d though.

I totally understand what u R saying, Murph! Not really sure how much more competitive I would need to be when hosting 5vs1 against semi-high rankd individuals. As far as my host connection is concerned...its pretty horrible...its DSL highest dwnld is 5mb and my upload is around .60mb my ping ranges from 35ms to 185ms (florida servers are horrible for me).
Team Elim is kill or be killed. 5 minute matches...im am not gonna hide...will meet u on the dirt..ads looking for you! Ive been showing ppl how it works cuz they are confused how i kill them. I told them to not care if they live but be as steady as possible and make sure noone can get behind u...pretty much keep others in a 45 degree vision. Never be too exposed! I changed my controller to Tactition from the default so that my heat vision is my RB button, which makes changing alot faster.

my connection is crap...got a buddy in Baltimore thats pays Verizon 150 for his connect. I win less than 20% of my games against him...the guy eats bullets. He has to have a ping of less than 10ms which is freakin crazy!
