My screen is all blue :( Please Help

Hi,

I installed Far Cry and when the first level loads it looks like this

I have a Geforce FX5200 with the latest nvidia drivers. the last time i played this it ran fine but now that i have reinstalled it, it plays like this. Can someone please help me. Im not sure but could the service pack 2 have something to do with this?

yes, i got the EXACT same problems before. I reinstalled 100 times and restarted a billion times, but the sollution was one easy friggen step....DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE 1.1 PATCH! Once the 1.1 patch is in, everything will be back to normal, and you wont experience anything like this again

yeah i had the problem, but then i installed the 1.1 patch and now i have another problem! my thread is here for it if anyone can help...

Hi there splintercell, This seems to be a driver issue. The later drivers (61. series ) don't seem to work correctly with the fx cards on far cry, go back to the 56.72 driver and you will find it is ok again. I had the very same problem with my FX5900 Ultra, I have now bought a Gforce XFX 6800GT and it works ok with the latest drivers(61.77)

Yes, that screenshot looks VERY familiar!

I had exactly the same problem on my GeForceFX 5900XT with v61.77 drivers and DirectX 9.0c, and this was AFTER patching Far Cry to v1.1.

It seems to be something to do with nVidia driver settings, since it disappeared after I re-tweaked my settings via RivaTuner RC 15.1 (with matched v61.77 database). However, I don't know EXACTLY which driver setting causes it because I have ALL tweaks (on the Power User tab) saved as a RivaTuner preset file (.RTP) so that I can easily restore my tweaks after updating video drivers.

If I find the setting that causes this problem, I'll certainly post back to inform you all!

Hi ive had the same problem, but mines fine till you come out the cave and the environment is all blue.

Has ne1 got the same problem if so how do you get round it coz is F*** annoying.

I also had the blue screen problem. 512MB Ram 2.8 Celeron, Geforce FX5700LEP. I installed the very latest forceware drivers from nvidia version 6693. Also changed r_driver=direct3d9 to r_driver=opengl in system.cfg. Also turned anti aliasing off. If you have fog table emulation in your graphics card settings then enable this. All is going great now. I woke up the neighbourhood with my WOOHOO!!! when I finally figured it out.

To everyone still with this problem. Make sure you Download and install all the latest patchs up to 1.3 AND that you have your latest card drivers! This almost 99 percent always does the trick for this known problem.

I have a geforce fx 5200 card aswell and i have had the same problems but why does the demo works but the full game does not?

512mb pc2700 crucial sdram
Hitachi 164.0gb har drive

The problem(in most cases)lies in the graphics renderer.What you have to do is go in the far cry directory and go to profiles (your profile)_system.cfg find the line r_graphics driver "Direct3d9" and change it to "OpenGL"

I hope that the last thing I poste was of any use.But can anybody tell me why the Far cry demo works on Direct3d9 but the full game only works properly on OpenGL.
