You need to make note of the coordinates on the right, press the blue button on the left and you're off on your mission. Your KI should be blinking white on the target and you should have one green marker square unlit. The first one is difficult because you have only zeroes as coordinates. Just start searching until you find it, come back and calibrate it into the machine and move on to the next one.

Hi Rivengurl. I'm trying trying to tag the last of those four markers (it's a devil to reach), but I'll see what I can do to help out here.
I'm assuming you have gained access to the 'Calibration Chamber' behind the Great Zero and found the four Calibration machines. What you need to do now is click on one of those four machines. This will get your avater to insert her hand into the Ki slot and look into the machine. At this point only three of the machines work, if the symbol you see when you look into the machine matches one of the symbols on your Ki's co-ordinate display you are OK. If it doesn't you've got the machine that doesn't work, try another.
Once you've got one of the three working machines (and you're looking into it), press the big blue button to activate the machine. Your KI is now set to find your first CGZM. Your find it just as you did with the other 20 markers (wander everywhere you can think of till your KI detects the marker. When you've found and touched the marker come back to the same machine and register it. (You can only do these one at a time).
This is my first posting here, so I hope it makes sense, and is helpful. If you need any more help, just ask away. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I realize this may not be the approproiate post for this reply, but I'm having major issues with these dumb CGZMs.
When I first gained access to the calibration chamber, I explored the room as most would do. This means touching practically every button in the room, especially the ones on the machines. When I eventually figured out what the calibration machines did, I touched the very first one in the back left of the room, the distance machine, and my KI recieved the information for the CGZM. After wandering around for a bit [the first is quite difficult] and eventually locating the distance CGZM, I returned to the calibration chamber and uploaded my KI's information to the distance machine. Everything went according to plan.
Next I tried the next machine - the Toran [degrees] calibration machine. I recieved my coordinates and my KI showed that I needed the next CGZM, however when I went to look for it in the place where I was almost positive it would be found, at the coordinate 59836.57.-77, [I had only the distance, 57, at the time] I could't see it. After becoming frusturated and wandering around the city for a while, I decided to check a walkthrough. Sure enough, I was in the right place - the marker ought to be where I was looking for it. The game absolutely refuses to show me the marker - I get no confirmation whatsoever that I'm anywhere near it.
I decide, therefore, that perhaps the game is thinking I need a different marker. This ruined things for me, as I had to look up the locations of the final two markers and look for anything at these points. When I checked at these points, I found nothing. Not even a flashing red CGZM symbol. Now I've got a game that isn't functioning correctly and I know the locations of the last two markers. Great.
By now I've become frantic in my search for anything that might possibly reset my KI's information. I try the KI device in the beginning of the Great Zero courtyard, and it seems to do something to my KI - it solidifies my once faded CGZM symbol. Now the game thinks I have actually FOUND one of those CGZMs! I run over to the calibration chamber and try uploading to all of the machines. Nothing happens. Is there ANY way to reset the CGZMs without having to start over? Could this be a bug for To D'ni? Where can I find a list of current bugs for To D'ni? I haven't been able to find anything on this issue, so perhaps one of you may know what's going wrong. Thanks.

That toran marker appears to be difficult (impossible) because of a linking page some people have missed. Did you find anything in prime (ie pre xpack and still there) near the second clock dais in Kadish?

Note: The final markers can be gathered in any order (well, except for the very last one, obviously).
I think many people are having trouble when they use a walkthrough that says "go to the 3rd page in your City book" or whatever, because the city books have NEVER been in any specific order, and especially not now that the links are shuffled every time you use it (it seems).

Explicitly - the balcony overlooks the strip mall. You have to be right up against the rail and reach out.

I'm there, The balcony that is. My KI says 56 not 57, it doesn't blink red or anything. I am strafing the the rail but have not seen this marker. Not sure what to do at this point.

So, you're saying it's on the balcony you get to via the linking tablet in kadesh that ALSO overlooks the strip mall? As if they're two different places. =D God, I never even thought of that. How stupid of me, i'll load it up right now and find it, you just watch.

Kadish is where you find the bahro stone page, the strip mall balcony is where it takes you. The Big Brown Book in your relto is where the page goes once you've used it.

Check around the second "telescope" (or whatever you would call them, "telescope" seems to be the common term here), near the steps.

???
Not so. You can collect all four markers for each machine before returning to check them in. You don't have to make a separate trip for each marker.

If you dont already use a pare of headphones get a pare and listen for the sounds of the markers. if you don't know what they sound like go to your URU folder and try this file.
mines here C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Cyan Worlds\Uru - Ages Beyond Myst\sfx
the file name starts with xGZMarker. I use DDBplayer its not bad and it plays ogg files.
When I did the marker part of the xpak, I waundered around the city and listened for the sounds of them. its like a pinging sound. Just walk or run around the city, don't even try to find them, they'll find you.
also I noticed when I played the xpak I couldn't see the markers in 3rd person untill they were exposed or I was at the right angle to them. So switch between 3rd and first person views.
If you come to a marker that seems impossible to get without jumping to it. Don't jump just keep the pointer on the marker and scoot up in third person till the pointer changes to the clicky thing.
If you get stuck on a marker, check out some of the walkthrus for a hint or two.

It should be noted that the value listed with the fourth telescope is a rather different from where you will find the marker. Not to worry though it can still be reached. Just do noit use the number stated on the telescope (or viewer as being "right on".
Also at least in my game I was not able to do the last four marker hunts all at one time.

Sharper's hint in his 2004 journal told me which marker to try first. I think it helped a lot.
I checked the calibration machines. When you click the button of a second machine, the signal from the first appears to stop sending. That's just my observation.
Also, if a marker doesn't show up, be sure you clicked the button inside the viewer.

There is only one marker per machine. The fourth can't be got at all until the other three have been registered.
