I have been anticipating this game since its announcement and the voice command does look revolutionary.
For the 4 dolls how was it to finally play this kick a$$ game?

HHAHAH thanks!! I really had fun with this game I LOVE RTS'S so even though filming the 5 minute segment took 12 hours, for the most part it flew by http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I can't wait for this game

Yes, but how will it cope with accents that aren't American? Like, say, mine?

Just watched this disc.
That is the first i have really seen of the game, it looks pretty cool. I never got into the 2D types of Strategy games, but i might give this a go.

Good job on your demonstration girls.

The video on the bonus disc was the first thing I did when I got my copy of RSV2. I thought it looked pretty good. I'll probably check it out when it gets released. Would be nice to see a demo close to release.

So from what I see you have to tell your troops to take cover.

Wow so it wasn't so long ago that I gave up on RTS's due to the monotony of them. Now I have something to look forward to because this game looks hawt! Voice commands are a great touch, and as long as it plays well on both PC and console it might be one of the only pre-orders I will order.

I´m technically on vacation this week, and literally in South America, but I happen to have access to the internet at the moment and I can´t stay away. So... hi. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif My name is Rhoulette and I am an internet addict.

Anyway, to answer some questions:

I have always thought that RTS´s were fun to play every once in a while but they´ve never been my gaming passion. I was prepared to be somewhat apathetic about this game but I actually ended up having a lot of fun playing it. As Mischief mentioned it took us like 12 hours to film this thing just because there was so much to set up. They kept asking us to stop playing at certain times because they needed to change angles or reboot the consoles or whatever but we kept protesting. We were having enough fun that we didn´t want to put the controllers down long enough for a reboot.

And regarding the non-American accents, we actually filmed a portion for that that didn´t make it into the final cut of the video. We had one of our Ubi managers come up to demonstrate that it can recognize commands through any kind of accent. Hers happens to be an adorably heavy French accent and the game understood her just fine. I think maybe they decided not to include this footage because Brooke and I kept interrupting her to boss her around and tell her where to go. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Forget the game Rhou. Pictures from your trip.

I watched this video and was impressed with the voice command idea. If it works as well as shown, it should really make the game easy to play. If it doesn't, it'll be a pain. Using a controller to play an RTS has always been challenging, so this idea is very welcome.

As for taking the battle to the ground level, this is nothing new to RTS games. Many popular RTS games have allowed this. Star Wars: Empire at War, Kingdom Under Fire, and even WarCraft III allowed this by simply scrolling the mouse wheel to change the perspective on the fly. It's neat, but nothing new here.

I'm not sure you can use the voice commands to execute complex strategies, that most RTS games for PC can do with pointing and clicking. From what the video shows it looks all you really do is build up on units and then tell them to go in mass to attack, or maybe its just a FD thing.

Zander412
03-24-2008, 09:23 AM
do you even get to control half of the units or just the entire unit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Valkyrie FD

gosh i cant remember clearly anymore but it was something like 4 units to start with that had about 10 guys in each i think. But as you complete objectives and take bases and such you can call more units for a total of 8 i belive? (thats if any arent wiped out)

You can control every unit and pick which type of reinforments you want (ground, air, etc)

seductivpancake
03-25-2008, 09:52 PM
Are the 8 units including vehicles, as well as air units?

Hmm, I dunno - Ubisoft game, French accent... coupled with my own take on Standard English. Part and parcel of my accent - from where I live, clearly - is my dialect if you like.

We'll see

so you get about 4 units of like 10 guys to start out with. so its like a comand & conqer type game but the picture angles are right in the action and you could use your voice.

Your army is completly custumizable. You pick what ever units you want when you call for reinforcements or before you start the game (i.e. artilliry, gunships, riflemen, etc.)

Oh and you might see a few familiar faces of some of our favoirte Clancy heros in the game hehe. *shush, dont tell!* http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Yea the deployment sounds much better then most RTS games. I am a big fan of limited unit deployments or pre determined deployed units in strategy games, like Combat Missions for PC.
