Ok, iv had the idea for sometime, about a piece of software which allows the user to sort of, jump in to your movie.

basics: you load into angle-dock, 4 different angles of the same movie.

You send the saved .ADMov to your friends and get them to download Angle-Dock

Your friends can then switch between upto 6 seperate angles, at their own will as they watch the movie.

Will post a tutor next

HOWEVER, Angledock wont be available for a couple of weeks yet. but i thought id wet ur apetites

ok downsides....

1. You can only import .AVI
2. The Output file .ADMov is.. rather large.

for example, take montey_dans movie POW-Narrated. now thats a cool 150meg... put it through a 6-angle ADMov. and your looking at about 800meg.

But thats becuase of MD's high quality...
and the fact that i put it through as 6 angle.

put a standered 60meg film through at 4 angle your averaging about 250-300 meg.

Wow great pease of software http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif This will bring a hole new ganre to movie making.
That would work great on documentories I think. Only one thing, part of a good movie is ofcourse the angle work.

Delta-Core-Fin
05-09-2006, 09:54 AM
well... if you put as much effort into "Additional Angles" as you did the "original Angel" then, the part of a good movie would still remain... but it would be even more... good lol

Thx

ok. load in 2 videos. 1 of cockpit and 1 of the outside...

the user can tehn switch between the views at will. to let them see what they want to see!

thats how simple it is!

So, essentially you're talking about making a movie file that works as though it's an in game track, where you can switch to different views, and different stations in an aircraft, or switch between aircraft. How many videos can be merged in this way, and how does this affect file size?

Is this program essentially running two movie files concurrently, and you simply switch between the two, or what?

Yes Tooz, it looks like you will need to make a seperate movie file for each angle. Keep in mind, however, that you don't have to have EVERY angle available all the time. You could just replace certain parts of your movie with the extra angle the way some DVDs are done now.

I can't tell if Angle Dock already does this, but one way to keep the movie size down would be the ability to import the alternate angle(s) with a time offset. The alternate angles would only be available starting at the time offset specified. That way you wouldn't have to have the entire movie duplicated.

Basically yes. Technically, no.

With an ingame track you only hear wot the game is giving off.

With angle dock, you import your "Final Cut" for that angle, so youv already put in your sound tracks and special effects etc....

"How many videos can be merged in this way, and how does this affect file size?"

You can have upto 6 different Movie files running simel. File size depends on the following:

+ The size of your movies combined
+ Your Chosen Compression.
+ Your "Create a project" Resolution.

If you compress your final ADMov as hard as it will go... it will take a considerabley much longer time to load in Playback Studio. Also, you may suffer slight pixilation.

4 angles of 30 meg video each can usually be compressed to somewhere around 100 meg without much quality loss.

Well yeah, youv almost got it right.

If you set angle 1 and angle 2 to play the same movie file.

But on virtual dub or whatever, if you edit like the second movie file, to show something different at say... i dunno... 1:56 for about 7 seconds... you can do that sort of effect yes!

but its purely down to your Movie editing software, Angle-dock will do nothing to help you

So what this does is take up to 6 seperate movie files and "stick" them together, and then I assume there is some kind of prompt, or icon which lets you know when you are able to switch to the other angle/camera/view by pressing a key somewhere at the appropriate time stamp?

I think this would best utilised in training movies, or aerobatic movies, but it would be interesting to see how it can be incorporated into a storyline.

Delta-Core-Fin
05-12-2006, 08:28 AM
well i can break it down into 3 things

1: when i get it to final build and iron out the bugs
2: when i upload it to a reliable web server
3: when i can be assed to make a movie http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I figured i might get a take on it, huge publicity stunt and ask montey-dan to do a short 3-minuter... maybe...

Like those extra extra long adverts you see when you go the cinema, you forget there actually an advert cos they that long.

whats the story behind the fokker DXXI anyway? why the big obsesasion?

BrewsterPilot
06-04-2006, 08:19 AM
Assuming that you are a Finn like me (the -Fin part in your username) I assume you know that the Ilmavoimat used 99 or 100 Fokker D.XXI's quite succesfully against the Russians. A finn named Viikate_ has sent in a completed model of different Fokker D.XXI's (Finnish, Netherlandish. .. etc) with a completed panel. This was quite some time ago, and Oleg has since then said that the models were under "testing". It's been dead without news for a loong time now.

Hurri-Khan has made a set with almost 80(!) completed Finnish skins for the Fokker model also.

We are patiently waiting for the plane to be released. That's why we carry that sig.

hmmmm interesting.

ur wrong about 1 thing, the -fin in my name is short for FINAL, but i ran out of char's when creating my name.

Nice.... soon well all be flying fokker D.XXI.

Back to angle dock though, iv had an idea for a multishot skin, were you can literaly view all 2-4 or 6 shots simoultaniously.

Good idea, or am i starting to overload it?

I sounds like a neat project..BUT is this not what the movie director can do when making the movie.

As the *69.GIAP guys say..
It is going to require that much more data for the movie, probably making the movie size incredibly large, and not very downloadable for a lot of people. A movie has to be a reasonable size otherwise people will just not download it.

Syncronising the views is a thing that pops into mind ?? why do it here when I more easily do it with the final movie - in one file => a movie with multiple views is very do-able.

What will be a neat project is using the game track files themselves to create multiple views - maybe a scripting proggy might do this...

I know you promoting the product, but maybe your angle is wrong as there are easier ways of doing what you say - Just a thought...
