VIP 2 down - can't complete mission because of bug

I'm about ready to throw this game in the trash!

I'm using the latest patch (1.35).
I've restarted the mission several times.
Killed everyone, completed all the objectives.

I need to make my way over to the embassy. Sometimes I'll get close enough to trigger the embassy blowing up (other times not) but I still can't get to it without it telling me to "Get back to the war Mitchel".********mod edit******
It's not like this game is new?! Why isn't this fixed?! I am fit to be tied!

I've tried all the suggestions I've read in the numerous forums. I can't seem to find any PC saved games just so I can get past this bug! Yes, it's damn bug that still isn't fixed!

I know you said that you have killed them all but... More times than none, there are still tangos alive runnng rampant in that area, send your teammate to check around so the tango(s) don't kill you.

Yup...what Snipe said. If you don't get them all, the game will not advance you to the next mission. GRAW2 is the same way. Keep looking; you'll find him.

I finally got past this mission, but not in the way you would think.

In my current attempt, I'm at the point where I need to go to the embassy but I can't even get close enough to trigger the embassy explosion. So I take the guys and walk every inch of the map. No tangos to be found. I can even go all the way back to the starting point. I'm even looking in the transports the tangos use. nope, none there. Out of boredom, I pop a grenade into one of the tango's transports on my way back to the embassy. This time I'm able to get closer to the embassy to trigger the explosion but I can't get to the embassy yet. Also, I can't go back as far as I did before. I triggered something by destroying one of those transports. I replayed that same save (5) to verify that destroying that one transport allowed me to get further. Yes that was the case. If I didn't destroy it, the same boundaries are in place to keep me from triggering the embassy explosion.

So this is what I did. I restarted the mission from VIP 2 DOWN save point 3. As I move through the map, I destroy all tango transports in addition to the tangos. This include all the idle ones that are always sitting there. Now I'm able to get to the embassy and continue the mission.

This is one buggy mission.
