UNS is a 'clanmunity'. We are something between a clan and a community. Some of us are hardcore and play as much as possible and some of us are more of the weekend warrior type. Sadly, I ont have nearly as much free time as id like so most of the time I am a weekend player, but I do make time most evenings for a couple quick games. Some of us want to do scrims and clan wars, while some of us just want to play for fun, taking a more relaxed approach.

Either way it goes, UNS members are not ever required to show up for practice at specific times or face the boot. We play on our time, when we have it. Most of our members are very mature, while I have accepted a couple....less mature members, in an effort to give them a place to call home and hopefully calm them down a bit. We dont give people a hard time for being n00bs, nor do we taunt people maliciously. We do joke amogst ourselves when we get familiar with each other, but never at the expense of another player.

UNS members who break rules are warned before getting removed from the clan and possible banned from our servers. This does not generally happen as I really try to accept only mature players, with a rare exception.

Now, onto more about the servers themselves.

UNS works with several other hosts and/or clans to keep the cheaters out of our entire network of servers and clans. We also keep those who quit when not winning out, since it ruins the experience for the people who play honestly. Known cheaters are permabanned from ALL UNS servers as well as quitters.

Below are some of the highlights of UNS servers and their functionality.

* UNS uses its own system to efficiently admin in game

* UNS uses the C2A server watcher to keep things going in the event of a Ubi failure. This is the sole function of the C2AGarnett server watcher. All other functions are handled by the UNS admin system and/or PBweb

* Few members have full control of the servers, ensuring a consistent experience every time you visit.

* PBweb is used to remove cheaters, quitters and all else who disturb normal gameplay from the server efficiently as well as add them to the ban list in one easy click.

* Minimum players to start rotates from 8 to 4 every 5 minutes.

* maps that sit in the lobby for over 30 min will auto skip to the next one in line

* teams shuffle every 30 seconds to help prevent team stacking.

* There are no time limits on UNS servers. Every match will be played to the max score, regardless of game mode.

There will also be a new game mode unveiled to coincide with WGC's relese of their very own new game mode as well. This is not to be competition to WGC, but more of an allied thing.

Giving players more choices in game mode can be a great thing, especially in a game were more modes are highly desired by the general masses of players.

Stay tuned, as the new game mode will be released and explained after a bit more QC/QA. The maps required for this new mode, called VIP Mode, must meet certain criteria to work properly without breaking the new mode.

VIP mode? Is that something like the old CS capture the VIP? Looking forward to this with great expectations.

Kev, some of our earlier maps already meet this criterion and have decent layouts for a VIP situation. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Example: Subterranea.

Or wgc_port, for example... We got loads of maps for that, as crobb said.

Did you ever find a way to use pbwebtool on more than one server at a time?

That's easy: Just start them with different ports. I experimented with that back in april-may, but decided that it's way better to run one quality server than two messed up ones. Running a server means keeping it admined.

I did figure out how to run differnt pbsv.cfg files for a tdm and dm server, auto messaging and all thet, but I have issues with pbweb and two servers still.

I put the second FC2 file in the C: drive in its own folder, not in Program Files>Ubisoft>FC2. The one in the usual location runs out of appdata, like normal. (for me @ least)

The second one runs out of its own bin folder, with a completely different set of messages and tasks. I changed the port number in the pbsv.cfg file too, and it has its own pbweb.

In addition, the changes are as follows:

TDM: 8 player minimum to go, no longer cycles to 4. Teams still shuffle, skips map idle in lobby after 30 min.

DM: Remains same with less and shorter auto messages. 4 and 8 player minimum rotate every 5 min, and maps still skip after 30 min in lobby.

Thanks Kevin I'll have to give that a try.

While we are talking about it do you know how to run auto server messages with PB off?

No, sorry I dont. I use PB tasking for lots of things, I never messed around without PB. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I have been hearing lots of talk about how European servers are the 'last hope for FC2' and other nonsense like that. Someone claimed that there were no USA based clans left, which is completely untrue. UNS is based in the Eastern USA, and is still going strong to this day. UNS will continue indefinitely, as I have NO plans to shut down our servers.

Just last weekend, I had 3 servers running at full capacity. It was very busy, and I continue to release new maps weekly. The same goes for every weekend, and many weeknights too.

When our servers sit idle, (just like everyone else's do) all it takes is one player to wait for 5-10 min and most of the time a game can be started. Our DM servers are 4-8 player minimun, drastically reducing wait time to start the match. Our DM maps and many of our TDM maps are built specifically for smaller games, and many of those maps are actually too full with over 12 players.

We have invented a new game mode, (VIP mode) as mentioned earlier in this thread and work continues on other variations on stadard game modes.

In addition to all of the above, and most importantly, UNS tries to provide only top-notch maps to play on. Many of my own maps were retired or dont see play time on my servers for the simple fact that most of the players did not enjoy them as much as other maps. Im very picky on what maps I choose; they must excel in appearance, gameplay and performance.

So, to set the record straight, there is at least ONE American clan left, and we do have members from overseas as well. I dont know much about most of the other clans, but Im sure UNS isnt the only American clan left http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You know we are right there with you, Kev. We ain't going anywhere. We are still seeing ~500 NEW players per week in our servers, even since MW2 came out:

Every day we have players with wgc, lmb, dom, M, e8, and tons of other tags in our servers, and not just in our Euro server, #3. Yes there are certain times of day when all three are empty for a while, but all it takes is one guy to sit in any of them for a few minutes, and he can have a game with 6-16 players.
