Hi, how do you reload torps in the VIIB, slot 1,2 and 4 are empty and my reserve torps wont get loaded just get a message saying "torp waiting in q for loading" I have removed all the torps that need loading and replaced them in the slot for reloading but I dont get a reloading counter, i advanced time over a day still they wont load. Can any one help?

First off do you have enough crew in the torp room to get the job done? if not nothing wil happen. 2nd if they are tired nothing will happen. 3rd if you have enough crew and they are not tired what happens is, they start loading the first one in the 1st tube. once that is done then the next one and so on. so it could take quite a bit of time to get to the last tube.

First, if the crew efficiency in the torpedo bay drops too low, they won't be able to reload. Secondly, if you are in silent running mode, they don't reload (it makes a lot of noise).
On the VIIB, there are two stored in external compartments. To get at them, you have to hit the "I" key to open the weapons management panel, then pick up the external torp with your mouse and drag it onto an empty internal slot to start bringing it in. This can only be done while on the surface.

To load EXTERNAL RESERVE torps into your boat:
-Surface the boat.
-Sea state must be fairly calm.
-'Grab' the torp while holding down your left mouse button and try to drag it to the appropriate RESERVE slot, not the firing tube. It will not stay put, but don't worry. Now, place your cursor over the torp. It will say 'Moving in xx:xx". (Generally around one hour.) This is the time it will take your crew to move the torp inside the boat. Then, it must still be loaded into a firing tube.
As your crew is working, you will see the torp turning black from left to right. This is another indication of how much time is left before it is moved. You can also place your cursor over the torp to see the remaining time. Once the torp is completely black, it will then appear inside your boat.
*You must stay surfaced. If you submerge, you will have to repeat the process. The crew will not remember to move the torp.

While we're on the subject of Torpedos, here's my question - using the torpedo training as per example - the two external rear-facing torps - can they be used in the forward tubes or not? They don't seem to be able to load forward, though I don't know if this is normal or not.

yeah I was kinda hoping, if surfaced you could reallocate the rear torps to the front. Be really stupid if you cant...
I mean sure hte one already loaded is fine, but Im sure it wouldve been possible to move the ones from the back, to the front, even if it takes a few hours, I dont care, would just be great to have the option.

Sorry, but it looks like that is not possible. Rear reserve torps must be loaded to the stern...front reserves to the bow.

IF I understand it right, the external lockers for those reloads also have some tooling available to make moving those two-ton fish around easier. If you wanted to move one from rear to front, you'd have to do it totally by hand...something that would involve having a good chunk of yoru crew above deck.
